Two innovative projects have been awarded £ 16 million from the British space organizations, and the UK is placed at the forefront of the latest progress of satellite constellations.

With this funding, the British industry can acquire most of the satellite constellation market by developing technology to improve efficiency and abilities.

This comes from the connection properties of the C-LEO program in the British space agency, and will invest up to £ 240 million in the British expertise in the next four years.

Advantages of satellite constellations

The satellite constellation provides high -speed Internet access to unreasonable areas of remote and services, and enhances global connections by filling digital gaps.

These constellations have been set to change the connection between maritime and aerial connections, changing how people live and work in the farthest place on the earth.

Telecom’s Minister Chris Bryant explained: “The UK has all the most advanced expertise and skills to lead the latest progress of satellite communication and become leaders in this high -tech industry.

“The projects supported by these governments not only provide important advances in mobile communications, but also to fill the digital disparity and link the community in the most difficult field.”

The growing satellite telecommunications industry is increasing competitiveness

In the UK, a cosmic sector with a rich heritage in satellite design and a large satellite constellation is growing.

The new government’s funding is important to maintain the British competitiveness during the rapid changes and growth of the world cosmic sector.

In 2023, a new record was achieved by the success of more than 2,900 satellites. Most of these satellites are part of commercial constellations that are expected to expand rapidly.

It is highly likely that 18,000 satellites will be released between 2021 and 2031, and a total of 75 % of Mega Contra is configured.

This is an important opportunity for the British industry to secure a valuable contract in the global supply chain of the satellite constellation and take on the leading role of the long -term growth of the satellite communication division.

Companies are developing new cutting -edge technologies

Companies that benefit from raising funds include Oxfordshire’s Ensilica PLC. It receives £ 10 million to develop new silicon chips and software for the user terminal.

This is compatible with the UK and European constellations, like the next generation of OneWeb.

Cardiff receives an Excelerate Technology LTD and develops small, flexible mobility and automotive market user terminals (Mamut). This allows users to select operators and tracks through the app, reduce costs, and increase global reconstruction.

Other investment in space communication

The UK is also a member of the European Space Organization (ESA) and holds the European Space Application and Communications Center (ECSAT) in the Herwell Space Cluster.

The C-LEO program awards funds through two different routes. The project announced today is a subsidy directly awarded by the British space organization, and further contracts from ESA will be followed in the next few months.

This announcement was made this week prior to the Ignite Space Conference, a British Space Organization held at the National Space Center in Leicester.

This event emphasizes the opportunity for SMEs (SME) to connect with new customers, collaborators, and investors in the British space industry and their supply chain.
