Android users can now download Photoshop for Mobile. Adobe announced on Tuesday that it will release a beta version of its Android Photoshop app four months after the company launched the iPhone app.

The app offers similar editing tools to the desktop version, such as layering and masking, but is optimized for mobile screens. During the first beta period, users will have free access to the app’s features.

These features include the ability to combine and blend images using tools such as selection, layers, and masks. Users can also add or convert elements using AI features such as “generated filling.” The “Tap Select” tool can be used to quickly remove or exchange parts of an image, allowing users to access a library of free Adobe stock assets, as well as control layers and effects using blend modes and adjustment layers.

Users can also remove distractions with “Spot Healing Brush” and refine images with “Delete” and “Clone Stamp Tool.” The “Object Select” and “Magic Want” features allow users to make more accurate choices.

Adobe said it plans to bring additional features to the app soon.

By bringing Photoshop to mobile, Adobe aims to attract new users, especially younger users who are used to using their phones for creative purposes. For those who already use Photoshop, Adobe says that mobile apps make services more accessible to those who prefer to work on their phones.

Photoshop on Android (Beta) is now available on devices running Android 11 or later. There is a minimum of 6GB of RAM. Adobe points out that 8GB or more is recommended for optimal performance.

Unlike Android apps, the iPhone app launched with both free and paid features. Photoshop for iPhone is also integrated with Photoshop on the web for a fee. It’s not known if Adobe is planning to bring this feature to Android apps.
