Authorities say three other people were injured in the flames.
At least 22 people have been killed and three others have been injured in the fire at a restaurant in an urban city in northern China, Chinese authorities said.
Authorities did not provide details on the cause of the flame that occurred shortly after midday (04:25 GMT) local time on Tuesday.
However, images from the scene show large flames erupting from the windows and doors of a multi-storey building in Riahian, about 580 km (360 miles) northeast of the capital Beijing.
“The incident led to 22 deaths and three injuries,” state broadcaster CCTV said.
A video released in Douyin, a Chinese version of Tiktok, brought paramedics to the ambulance as their savior, showing several firefighters fighting with the fire and hose.
Another video from the social media platform, filmed from the top of the scene, showed dozens of fire engines parked outside the restaurant.
Hao Peng, secretary to the state control committee of Liaoning, said 22 fire trucks and 85 firefighters had been deployed to the scene.
Hao said rescue operations on the scene have been completed and people have been evacuated.
A long list of responding local politicians was provided by the governor, and a pledge to reach the bottom of the disaster and severely punish those responsible.
Chinese President Xi Jinping called for all efforts to treat the injured, properly deal with the aftermath of the deceased, provide support to families, promptly determine the cause of the fire, and pursue accountability in accordance with the law,” according to CCTV.
Industrial accidents occur frequently in China, but staff usually ignore safety features due to lack of training and pressure from their superiors.
Inadequately maintained infrastructure, illegally stored chemicals, fire retarders often broken by lack of fire outlets and corruption, are often factors in such disasters.
The country has seen a string of such fatal events in recent months. On April 9, at least 20 people were killed in a fire in a nursing home in Hebei Province, northern China.
In January, a flame at a vegetable market in Zhangjiakou city, northwest of Beijing, killed eight people and injured 15 people.
And a month ago, nine people died in a fire at a construction site in Longchen, China’s eastern city.
