Lyft and Uber will begin using Robotaxis in their ride-share fleets in Atlanta and Arlington, Texas, respectively.

The self-driving cars will be operated by Mobility in May, and the deployment will begin with the “stamp bio-operator” inside the car. It currently operates its fleets in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Minnesota and Martinez, California, serving primarily seniors and people with mobility challenges. “The company says AV technology can handle narrow city streets, provide more human-like operation with obstacles like double-parking cars, and provide smoother acceleration and braking.”

Other self-driving vehicle operators, such as Waymo and Cruise, have come across regulatory issues after the vehicle blocked an emergency vehicle and, in some cases, dragged pedestrians and suffered serious injuries. GM closed its autonomous driving division at the end of 2024. In June, Tesla announced plans to deploy self-driving taxis in Austin.
