Masayoshi Son’s popularity is middling. The SoftBank founder’s career is littered with eyebrow-raising gambles, each one looking more outrageous than the last. His latest move is to liquidate his $5.8 billion in Nvidia stock and focus all his efforts on AI. And while it took the business world by surprise on Tuesday, it might not be the case. It’s rather surprising that the 68-year-old Son didn’t push his chips to the center of the table at this point. Consider that during the dot-com bubble of the late 1990s, Son’s net worth soared to about $78 billion by February 2000, making…
Threat hunters have discovered similarities between banking malware called Coyote and a newly released malicious program called Maverick that was propagated via WhatsApp. According to a report by CyberProof, both malware are written in .NET, target users and banks in Brazil, and have identical functionality to target and decrypt bank URLs and monitor bank applications. More importantly, both include the ability to spread through WhatsApp Web. Maverick was first documented by Trend Micro early last month and was attributed to a threat actor called Water Saci. This campaign includes two components. Self-propagating malware called SORVEPOTEL. It is used to spread…

In 2024, he founded Eternos with his own funds. This is a legacy service that allows people to preserve their voices and stories for their loved ones after they pass away. It has now been given a new name and a revised…
Scientists have identified three new species of toads that do not lay eggs, but live ‘toads’.All three species are part of the genus Nectophrynoides, also known as “tree toads,” a group known for giving birth to live toad babies that skip the tadpole stage. Previously thought to be a single species with large populations and ranges, these smaller, more fragmented species may require additional conservation measures, researchers said in a new study.”Giving birth alive inside frogs and toads is extremely rare, practiced by less than 1% of frog species, making these new species extremely interesting,” study co-author H. Christoph Liedtke,…
November 11, 2025Ravi LakshmananMalware/Network Security According to new research from Huntress, the malware known as GootLoader has reemerged after a brief spike in activity in early March of this year. The cybersecurity firm announced that it has observed three GootLoader infections since October 27, 2025, two of which resulted in manual keyboard intrusion, and a domain controller compromise that occurred within 17 hours of the initial infection. “GootLoader is back, leveraging custom WOFF2 fonts with glyph substitution to obfuscate filenames,” security researcher Anna Pham said, adding that the malware “exploits WordPress comment endpoints to deliver XOR-encrypted ZIP payloads with unique…
The Jomon people of prehistoric Japan had “little or no” Denisovan DNA, suggesting their ancestors may have had no contact with this now-extinct Eurasian human group, a new study reports. The discovery was part of a study of hundreds of ancient and modern genomes to determine when and where modern humans (Homo sapiens) interbred with their mysterious Denisovan cousins.“To our surprise, we discovered that individuals from the prehistoric Jomon period existed in the Japanese archipelago. [from around 16,000 to 3,000 years ago] “Denisovans have the least amount of ancestry among ancient and modern East Asians,” the researchers wrote in a study…
