All Earth Day brings a surge in eco-friendly pledges and green-colored campaigns. However, while many efforts are limited to one day, many institutions embed sustainability deeply into their operations and spirit. From carbon tracking tools to lean events, these pioneers are redefineing what it means to be green. The news of the conference looked at those leading the accusations to see how they transformed the ambitions of a bold environment into everyday behavior.

Beyond April 22nd, these institutions have proven that sustainability is not just a seasonal buzzword, but a must for business.

It will be your element:

Be In Your Element is an event agency focused on wellness that creates nature-related experiences to help people reunite emotionally with the planet. Agents follow Frameworks best practices such as B Corp and work with sustainability consultants to prioritize low conflict options. Founder Lucy Eden said: “We create a space for people to fall in love with the planet. When people are emotionally and spiritually connected to nature, caring for them becomes a second nature.”

Lucy said the best way for other institutions to strengthen sustainability practices is to connect. She said: “Live in real time in nature. Beware of what stirs you, what grounds you. From there, make one meaningful shift at a time, something you can commit and maintain.”

Groups:

Full-Service Events Agency Assembl.Group works with ISO 20121 to embed sustainability in every decision, working towards B Corp principles. Team members are trained with tools such as Trace by ISLA to measure carbon impact, and group member EcoForm offers modular, recyclable event solutions. It also employs digital first communication and encourages clients to choose carbon-oriented options.

CEO Gavin said, “Sustainability is not a seasonal campaign, it’s embedded in the way we think, operate and deliver for our clients all year round.”

Broadsword:

Certified B Corp’s Broadsword adopts a transparent, measurable approach to sustainability, maintaining carbon neutrality since 2022 and offsetting 100% of its emissions in 2024.

Managing Director Anna Green said: “We believe that not a footprint, but a positive impact and that every event is an opportunity to leave behind legacy.

Evolution of events:

Evolution events for full-service event agencies work in sustainable venues like Suns End and Partners. They recently partnered with Eurostar and SCIB on sustainable research trips to promote sustainable travel. They also partnered with Event: Events to measure travel emissions and track the footprint of GO sustainable learning trips to Switzerland.

Peters added: “Sustainability is trying to make conscious choices every day, not just on Earth Day. It’s not a campaign, it’s a commitment to rethinking how events are planned and delivered. From where they host and where they work together, they want ways to reduce impact and create more meaningful experiences.

hierarchy:

Brand Experience Agency Strata has embedded sustainability into its core values through its “Win For the Planet” principles, which are integrated into business strategy and personal development plans. They are Ecovadis Certified for Bronze, alongside the UN SDG, and have been an ISLA member since 2021, using carbon tracking tools and external consultants to form a sustainability strategy. With dedicated sustainability officers, they focus on waste reduction and ensure that their practices meet evolving environmental standards.

EMC3:

Since becoming B Corp, EMC3 has incorporated sustainability into its daily operations. This is supported by the acquisition of sustainability consultants from now on and the use of tools such as Trace and Greenly to track the environmental impact of events and overall operations. All events include sustainability consultants, staff travel is carbon balanced, and post-event waste planning promotes reuse and cyclicality. Internally, each team member sets individual sustainability goals and aligns personal growth with the company’s ESG values.

Saskya Liney, who is head of sustainability, said, “I’m increasingly aware that the events industry has been a very wasteful for a long time, so it’s very rewarding to help change the story.

“Many agencies often see purely sustainability through an environmental lens. For us, sustainability means taking into account people and supporting our communities. It’s not just about reducing waste, it’s about doing good things positive. The key is to take action no matter how small it is about building from there.”

emota:

Event Agency Emota launched the Enviroplan in 2022, rethinking its business, achieving notable CO2 savings across its experience. They will soon roll out Enviroplan 2.0, a broader sustainability strategy that will apply to all services. As founding members of ISLA, they used the tool in carbon reports and partnered with suppliers to create recyclable cardboard exhibits.

Managing Director Mark Jackson said: “We love everything about the industry except for environmental impact. Over the past three years we have been forced to innovate in our space. We have been able to provide solutions to clients’ solutions that significantly improve the footsteps of experience.
