Shark PowerDetect UV reveals evergreen and smartphone 2-in-1 robot vacuum cleaner

So far, the types of robot vacuums in 2026 are much more diverse than in years past.

Before, it was just the same old stuff: suction power battles and corner cleaning competitions between five or six bots with roughly the same mopping capabilities. But this year, robot vacuum brands like Dream, Shark, Roborock, Eufy, and Narwal seem to be more interested in authentic and down-to-earth innovations. This year’s biggest robot vacuums all have one or two great cleaning features that are unique to their brand. We’ve seen three or four completely different mop pad designs, AI dirt detection and UV light dirt detection, and fresh variations in dock design aesthetics.

I tried Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai at home. There was more cursing than cheering.

A year ago at this time, I had just finished testing a robot vacuum with a mechanical arm. Then I wrote a think piece about how robot vacuum companies are losing ground with middling high-tech features that aren’t all that appealing to the average consumer. People just want a robot vacuum that works without intervention, but then they’ll probably end up paying a higher price. And that’s exactly what we got this year. A strong selection of advanced robot vacuums at a surprisingly generous price point. The most expensive robot vacuums of 2026 cost between $1,499.99 and $1,699.99, which is in the same price range as the lower end robot vacuums of 2025.

Since CES in January 2026, I’ve tested over a dozen 2026 model robot vacuums in my home. Here are the four robot vacuums that have impressed me the most so far this year:

Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete is the most balanced robot vacuum of 2026 so far. The 35,000 Pa suction power is the closest I’ve come across this year, and I appreciate the fact that it actually lives up to its specs. Picking up cat hair on multiple rug piles was consistently solid, and we found the X60 Max Ultra Complete to pick up litter more reliably than the Roborock Saros 20’s 36,000 Pa. It’s a beast in terms of suction power, but it’s pretty unassuming in terms of its presence in the home. It’s very quiet and very slim at just 3.1 inches tall.

At $1,699.99, the Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete ranks alongside the Roborock Saros 20 Sonic as the top most expensive robot vacuums in 2026. This still looks harsh to me, but it means your money will be spent on premium features that actually improve the experience. Hot water is used when mopping (and not just when washing the pads in the dock), and I think this really helped to avoid leaving a greasy residue after mopping up spills. The X60 Max Ultra Complete’s AI camera performs the most acute dirt detection I’ve seen this year. When it detects dirt during routine cleaning, it will automatically pass through particularly dirty areas multiple times until the job is completed.

Narwal Flow 2

Narwal Flow 2 is the best roller mop robot vacuum of 2026 so far. The Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow is a close second here, but Narwal’s latest product stands out with its 31,000 Pa of suction power (compared to the Roborock’s 20,000 Pa) and incredibly sensitive AI clutter detection. The Narwal Flow 2 has an impressive track record of identifying large debris piles and spills larger than a drop or two. The front-facing camera takes a before-use photo before performing an intensive spot cleaning of the area.

Roller mop robot vacuums are known for rinsing the mop when cleaning, which is great at preventing spills and dirty water from dragging onto the floor. Narwal takes it a step further with a heated mop. As I’ve learned over the past few months, hot water usage is a key mopping feature that should be included in flagship mopping robot vacuums by 2027. Hot water loosens bonds that make the grease slimy and difficult to remove from hard surfaces. Roller mop robot vacuums are specifically designed to absorb liquids, so you’ll have to deal with a lot of greasy, greasy, or just plain sticky kitchen spills. To avoid leaving residue on hard floors, heat (in addition to scrubbing) must be used to melt the stubborn consistency. Despite some quirky settings, I’m very impressed with the Narwal Flow 2 and recommend it for spill-prone households.

Euphy C28

Eufy C28 is the most affordable robot vacuum cleaner of 2026 so far. The MSRP of $799.99 isn’t bad as is, but you can almost always find the C28 on sale for between $499.99 and $549.99. You won’t find a robot vacuum in this price range that can handle spills as well as the C28’s self-rinsing roller. (In fact, you’re unlikely to find a roller mop robot vacuum this cheap.)

In my apartment, the C28 mop was also useful for mopping up ultra-fine dirt and dust like kitty litter and pet hair on hardwood. On the rug, the C28’s 18,000 Pa suction was much more effective on cat hair than I expected. I’m not sure if it’s the best robot vacuum for a multi-hut household, but for one or two animals, the C28 should be fine. I really appreciated how seriously the Eufy C28 took spot cleaning, especially when it came to removing debris hidden across the edges of the lugs and near the flaps. While the dock and robot itself aren’t the most sophisticated, C28 has a skill stack that’s hard to ignore.

The new Luxe Home Collection shades make the Shark UV Reveal 2-in-1 the most beautiful robot vacuum of 2026 so far. Before these four earth tones were released, I tested the UV Reveal 2-in-1 at home and noticed that a black light picked up invisible dry stains on my hardwood floors. This unique robot vacuum and mop comes in Evergreen, Ivory, Espresso, and Deep Harbor (a navy-ish blue). I haven’t seen these colors in person, but I’m sure they look just as great as the green Shark PowerDetect Speed cordless vacuum I’m testing at home.

If you want to automate the cleaning and mopping of your home, chances are you care about the condition of your home and want it to be cleaned more often. Ironically, that often means you’re forced to break up the unity of the room with large black or white plastic boxes that simply look cheap or too technical. Robot vacuum cleaners and their large auto-emptying docks aren’t designed to hide under furniture. So Shark’s recognition that robot vacuums have a right to be stylish is as revolutionary as cleaning itself.

It pains me to remember that the Shark UV Reveal flat mop pad isn’t actually made to handle large spills that stay wet. But in the race to develop the best AI dirt detection cameras, it’s refreshing to see Shark’s innovative use of science-backed cleaning technology. We can see UV Reveal sparking a new wave of mopping robot vacuums that react more accurately to dirt in real time than ever before. That’s why Shark deserves a spot on our best of 2026 list.
