Brazil’s President Lewiso Inacio Lula Da Silva said he would respond in the actual thing if the United States was imposing tariffs on its own.

At a press conference in Brazilia, the capital on Thursday, Lula said that it is seeking a relationship based on mutual respect. His comment was in response to the threat of President Donald Trump’s tariff.

“It’s very simple. If he taxes Brazilian products, there will be mutualism,” Lula told reporters.

“Trump was elected to run the United States, and I was selected to run Brazil. I want you to respect the United States and respect Brazil to Trump. That’s it.”

Comments are the latest signals that Trump’s efforts could cause trade war with US allies.

Lula’s stance provides a model about how other Latin American countries respond to Trump’s protection. Trump has forced customs duties as a mechanism to boost domestic industries and forced to respond to international rivals to the range of ranges from manufacturing to immigration.

Earlier this week, Trump threatened a large tariff on Colombia. President Gustavo Petro initially refused to allow unwritten immigrants to allow land flights.

Petro opposed immigration in the United States.

After the two leaders exchanged tariff threats, Petro retreated and allowed future flights to move, despite the implications of Trump and “White Slaves.”

However, Trump has been hanging on tariff prospects for other countries since diplomatic nausea.

For example, on Thursday, he tells reporters that he is planning to do good things with the promise of imposing 25 % tariffs on Canada and Mexico, two of the largest trading partners in the United States. Ta.

“I don’t need the products they have,” said Trump.

Trump has indicated that tariffs will enhance the safety of borders to Mexico and Canada to hinder the flow of drugs, immigrants, and exile. In the past, Trump has also threatened to run military strikes in Mexico to deal with drug trafficking cartels that move Fentanyl over the borders.

Experts have linked the shadows of tariffs to Trump’s desires to pursue the “American first” and are most interested in us.

His remarks at the second inauguration ceremony on January 20 emphasized the platform. He not only bullied the imminent tariffs to enrich our citizens, but also laid out the US extended vision for the future, including the seizure of the Panama Canal.

However, these threats are not accepted in Latin America, where the long history of US intervention and interference remains resonated.

“I rule Brazil, there are Republican and the Democratic President in the United States, and our relationship is always between the two sovereignty countries,” he broke in 2023. Lura, who started his third non -term term in 2023 in 2023, said.

The United States has a trade deficit with Brazil, from which products such as coffee, oil, steel, aircraft, orange juice are purchased.

Brazil, on the other hand, mainly purchases US products such as energy products, pharmaceuticals, and aircraft parts. According to Brazilian Foreign Trade Secretariat, the government exported $ 337 billion to the United States in 2024 and imported $ 262.5 billion.

However, experts say that trade deficit is not always a sign of an unhealthy economic relationship. They are affected by factors such as consumer demand and currency value.

There is also a fear that the trade war lying in the United States can intervene in other economic rivals.

For example, in recent years, China has expanded its economic relationship with South America and has become a major trading partner in most countries in the region.
