It has been announced that the Britt Awards will be held in Manchester next year, indicating a broader trend in major cultural events expanding beyond London’s scope.

This is the first ceremony outside of London since the award began in 1977.

The ceremony will take place at Co-op Live Arena on February 28th, after being held at London’s 02 Arena for the past 15 years.

The two-year contract means that the 2027 ceremony, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Britt Award, will also be held at the same venue.

Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham said: “The move of the Britt Awards from London is a massive coup for Greater Manchester. It’s great that 48 years from now, this prestigious global event is about to arrive in the UK’s music and culture capital.”

The first BRIT Award was held at the Wembley Conference Center. The Wembley Conference Center was demolished in 2006 and was flat. The Britt Awards have become an annual event held at Grosvenor House Hotel and other London venues, including the Grosvenor House Hotel, Royal Albert Hall, Dominion Theatre, Hammersmith Apollo, Alexandra Palace, Earl’s Court Exhibition Centre, E and London Arena.

The Britt Awards is the second major musical ceremony of the year to announce plans to leave London.

Last month, BPI, which represents the UK music industry and runs the Britt Awards, also announced that this year’s Mercury Award will be held in Newcastle in September 32 years later in the capital.

“We are pleased to announce that we are committed to providing a range of services and services to our clients,” said Dr. Jo Twist OBE, BPI CEO and member of the Brits Committee.

The decision to move the Britt Award to Manchester shows a broader trend in major cultural events that are expanding beyond London’s traditional sphere.

With both the Britt and Mercury Awards announcing their relocation to northern cities, there is a clear change in celebrating regional talent and cultural infrastructure across the UK.

This decentralization reflects the growing awareness of cities such as Manchester and Newcastle as key hubs of music, creativity and innovation. It also represents a strategic effort to make the art more accessible and inclusive and spread economic and cultural opportunities more equally across the country.
