Canopy announces “Sound Machine + Aroma,” a sleep device that combines white noise and essential oils

Canopy is best known for its stylish small home products, including its iconic humidifier. On June 16th, the brand announced a new product, “The Sound Machine + Aroma.” A 3-in-1 sleep device that combines sleep sounds, night light, and aromatherapy diffusion.

The Canopy Sound Machine + Aroma retails for $69 and comes in white, moonstruck, cream, lavender, and jade.

Canopy sound machine + first impression of aroma

I live in New York City, so you would think that loud noises all night long would disrupt my sleep, but I actually have the opposite problem. My street is incredibly quiet all night, so whenever there’s a noise, such as my upstairs neighbor’s floorboards creaking, I’m very aware of it. I have trouble sleeping quietly, so I’ve used various sound machines over the years (Echo Spot, and more recently the Babelio sound machine).

I’ve only had the Canopy Sound Machine + Aroma for four nights, but I can already see it earning a permanent spot on my nightstand. I prefer brown noise to white noise, and Canopy’s brown noise setting is perfect. Some of the programmed sounds are clearly aimed at babies, such as shushing sounds and lullabies, but I don’t think I’ve ever used them myself. However, there is enough white noise and natural soundscapes to justify the price of the device.

I have a Vitruvi essential oil diffuser that I love, but it’s not very quiet when I’m running. There I enjoy the completely silent aromatherapy of the canopy. Just squeeze a few drops of lavender and peppermint oil to scent your scent all night long.

I’m not a fan of night lights, but I like to spend my nights relaxing with soft, dim lighting. The built-in red and white lights are not too bright and create a calm atmosphere. You can also adjust the brightness.

The 15-hour battery life means you can use the Canopy Sound Machine + Aroma for two nights before recharging. You can also leave it on the charger overnight to avoid losing valuable brown noise.

It’s only been a few nights, but so far I’m very impressed. The Canopy Sound Machine + Aroma is stylish, portable, and packed with great sleep tools. I would definitely use my own money for this.
