Cate Blanchett and her 18-year-old son Ignatius Martin Upton made a fashionable family appearance at Giorgio Armani Prive’s Fall/Winter 2026 Couture presentation in Paris on Tuesday.

The two-time Oscar-winning actress turned to the late designer’s fall 2025 couture collection, showing off in a velvety suit. Her black jacket was made with sharp shoulders and long sleeves, with statement cutouts on either side of the waist, and a shimmering black belt cinched her waist.
Coordinating wide-leg trousers further accentuated the sleek, dark style of Blanchett’s ensemble, with plunging white fabric providing contrast and creating a sensual neckline.

As for accessories, Blanchett chose sunglasses and pearl earrings from French luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton. The actress is a Louis Vuitton ambassador and appeared in the house’s high jewelry campaign in June 2022.
Blanchett’s 18-year-old son with husband Andrew Upton opted for a modern edgy look in a charcoal-toned monochrome suit look, paired with a T-shirt and silver wire necklace.

The actress’ Giorgio Armani Prive suit look debuted a year ago, in July 2025, during Paris Couture Week, about two months before Giorgio Armani passed away at the age of 91. “For his fall Privé Couture collection, the late designer explored the myriad possibilities of black, from light-absorbing fabrics like velvet and shimmering lacquer to all manner of jet beads and other glittering embellishments,” wrote Miles Socha. According to Socha’s WWD review, Armani said, “For designers, black is at once the most classic color and the most demanding.” “When working with black, you cannot afford to make mistakes. Every detail must be perfect, because black reveals the very essence of the garment.”

After the designer’s death, Armani’s niece Silvana Armani took over as head of womenswear. The Fall 2026 Haute Couture collection focused on established design codes, from jackets to pants to gowns.
