Host Pakistan will be expelled after Rabindra and Braiswell led New Zealand to a five-wicket victory in Bangladesh in Group A.

New Zealand moved to the semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy, bringing India along with them after winning a five-wicket victory in Group A’s Bangladesh.

New Zealand chased 237 on Monday, shrugging two early wicket losses and rode Raychin Rabindra’s classy 112 and Tom Latham’s 55 to get home in 46.1 overs at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Pakistan .

“He’s doing Raychin. He loves ICC events and it seemed he’d never left the game,” said New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner, who was diagnosed with Daryl Mitchell’s illness. He spoke about the left-handed man who came aside to do so.

“He was probably not as fluent as he liked. [to be] But when he went, he was hard to stop and his partnership with Tom really put us in a good place. ”

Bangladesh previously got off to a good start, scoring 236-9 in the 50 overs. After 77 by Nazimur Hossein Shunt and 45 by Jaker Ali, black cap spinner Michael Braiswell scored 4-26.

As a result, defending champion Pakistan joined Bangladesh and was knocked out of the tournament after losing two matches against New Zealand and India.

Pakistan, which won the previous Champions Trophy in 2017, lost to New Zealand and India in its first International Cricket Council (ICC) event since the 1996 ODI World Cup.

India has refused to tour Pakistan for political reasons and instead plays all matches in Dubai.

New Zealand was the team to beat Pakistan with 60 runs in the tournament opener before humbling in the group.

The 1998 champions will face India in Dubai on Sunday to decide the top of Group A.

“It’s going to be another challenge on another surface,” Santner said.

“It seems like a pitch that’s slower than anything that gets here. We’ll see what happens.”
