ChatGpt is down again: Thousands of users reported slow responses and failures due to mystical Openai stops

ChatGpt users have experienced widespread problems, and AI chatbots have responded slowly or are failing completely due to the continued OpenAI.

On Tuesday morning, thousands of ChatGpt users around the world were greatly confused, causing significant confusion as Openai outages caused AI chatbots to crawl or become unavailable. The widespread issues that began around 2:45am ET have been going on for over six hours, affecting everyone from students to developers who rely on the service.

Openai’s official status page affects “increased error rates and latency” that affects the API service ChatGPT, as well as SORA, the company’s text-to-video platform.

Users are working on error messages like “A network error occurred” and “Hmm… something seems to be wrong”, but are facing login failures and incomplete responses after a long delay. The company acknowledges the issue, but has not yet determined the cause or provided a timeline for a solution.

Data from the down detector highlights the extent of the outage. Before the incident, users’ complaints averaged around 25. In the morning, reports of spikes between 1,200 and 1,400 in the US were spiked at a peak of 1,350.

In India, around 800 users reported issues by 3pm, with 88% citing chatbots unresponsive. Confusion is one of ChatGPT’s most important outages in recent months as it spans multiple areas.

Frustration is growing online, especially among paying subscribers. Student Megan said, “My friend and I have a hard time using ChatGpt this morning. We’re also having an exam, so it’s a bit of a nightmare!”

Another user, Daryl, raised concerns about his monthly ChatGPT and subscription, noting the delay in creating YouTube thumbnails. Even the 4o-mini models, which some users report intermittently functioning, are slowly performing.

Openai’s responses are limited to regular updates, with the latest 8am ET saying the team is “continuing to investigate.”

The outage follows a recent pattern of confusion, including last month’s three-hour disruption and incidents in April and December 2024. Each event is monitored for Openai’s ability to manage the burgeoning demand for services.

Users looking for alternatives have turned to platforms like Google Gemini and Claude AI, but many remain connected to ChatGpt due to their specialized features. Openai recommends monitoring the status page for development, but patience is weakened as there is no clear resolution.

For the thousands of people affected, the outage serves as a strict reminder of the challenges facing AI-driven platforms under global demand. Users will have to wait for Openai to restore services. Perhaps we’ll rethink our reliance on a single provider.

This is not the first stop rodeo for ChatGpt. Last month, three hours of confusion scrambled users, and previous incidents in April and December 2024 caused similar headaches. Every time, Openai refers to high demand and ambiguous technical issues, but the lack of a clear answer is beginning to fade
