Databricks said Thursday that it is incorporating Openai’s models, including the GPT-5, into its data platform, and it is incorporating its AI product, Agent Brick, as part of a $100 million multi-year agreement that bets on the AI company’s ability to bring customers.

The deal highlights an accelerated race to bring generative AI into the enterprise stack to predict the demand for AI tools that allow businesses to safely leverage corporate data.

Agent Brick allows organizations to build AI apps and agents on top of enterprise data using a variety of AI models. The latest model of Openai is part of its menu and is accessible via SQL or API. The GPT-5 is offered as a flagship model for DataBricks customers.

The news comes almost two months after Databricks added Openai’s openweight models, the GPT-OSS 20B and GPT-OSS 120B to the platform. Agent Brick can now measure how accurately different models work with specific tasks and fine-tuning to produce more customized results.

“The partnership with DataBricks will make it easier for businesses to experiment, deploy and scale AI agents that have had a real impact, as Secure Enterprise Data is already living on our most advanced models.”

With the agreement, Databricks bets that enterprise customers will flock to Openai’s model. Under the terms, there are companies that pay OpenaI at least $100 million, regardless of whether the AI company’s model is making revenue over the trading period.

Neither company stated how long the contract would run. If revenues exceed $100 million, Openai will earn more money, but if it’s shortfall, Databricks will have to pay in full anyway. With Databricks, that means potential negative risks. For Openai, that means predictable revenue when the company is trying to quickly build more data centers.

The deal is similar to Databricks, which reached with humanity earlier this year, setting a revenue target of $100 million over five years.

A Databricks spokesperson told TechCrunch that the company is already seeing overwhelming demand from customers, including MasterCard, for native access to Openai’s models on the platform.
