Some Israelis chant “death to the Arabs” and “the village is on fire” as they march through Jerusalem’s old town.

The Israelis on the right of Jerusalem raided the Al-Axa Mosque facility for Palestinian refugees and the United Nations facility as the annual march took place.

The Israelites marched through alleys in Jerusalem’s old town on Monday and chanted “Death to the Arabs” and “The village is burning” to mark the “Jerusalem Day,” commemorating the 1967 occupation of Israel and the annexation of East Jerusalem after the war in 1967.

Thousands of armed police and border police were dispatched in advance for regularly assaulting, attacking and harassing Palestinians and shops in Muslim districts. Settlers live in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, occupied by settlements and previous posts, which are illegal under international law.

A group of young people carrying the Israeli flag on Monday confronted Palestinian shopkeepers, passersby, school children, Israeli rights activists and police, sometimes insulting and trying to force them to the home.

Police have detained at least two young people, according to AFP journalists at the scene.

A small group of congressional rallies, including Israeli members, raided a compound in East Jerusalem, belonging to the Palestinian refugee agency known as the UNRWA.

Israel has affected life-saving jobs that have been undertaken in more than 70 years in areas including the besieged and attacked Gaza Strip, banning work in occupied Palestinian territory and Israel.

UNRWA West Bank coordinator Roland Friedrich has climbed the main gate with Israeli police in sight for 12 Israeli protesters, including Julia Malinovsky, one of the lawmakers behind Israeli laws that banned Israeli laws.

In last year’s procession, held in the first year of Israel’s attacks on Gaza, ultranationalist Israelis attacked Palestinian journalists in the Old Town, calling for violence against the Palestinians. And four years ago, the march helped to the outbreak of an 11-day war in Gaza.

Earlier on Monday, Israel’s far-right national security minister Itamar Ben Gwil and other politicians were among the more than 2,000 Israelis who attacked the Al-Aqsa Mosque site and surrounding areas.

Ben-Gvir released a video on his X account from the site – the third sacred Islam – he said, “for the victory in the war, for the resurrection of all our hostages, and for the success of newly appointed Shin Bet – for the success of Major General David Zini.”

Negev and Galilee Minister Yitzhak Beiserrauf and Knesset member Yitzhak Kroyser were among those accompanying the minister of ultranationalism.

Supported by armed police, Ben Gwil has previously implemented similar provocative moves of the compound, often advocating for an increase in military pressure at a time sensitive in Israel’s war with Gaza, and to block all humanitarian assistance entering Gaza.

Jerusalem Waqf – the Islamic authorities overseeing the compounds of the Al Aqsa Mosque, known to Muslims as Al Haram al-Sharif (noble sanctuary), have condemned the attack on the compounds by other members of Israel’s Kennesset and called for a halt to all “bocicative activities” in the region.

Under the control of the Jordan-appointed WAQF, only Muslims are permitted to pray with compounds.

Nida Ibrahim of Al Jazeera said the march was intended to assert Israel’s control over the city.

“The video shows Israeli citizens in Jerusalem’s old town attacking Palestinian shops and throwing things at them,” Ibrahim said, occupying eastern East Jerusalem, as Al-Jazeera, reports from Qatar as al-Jazeera were banned from reporting in Israel.

“This again reminds me that no one has an exemption.”
