The victims of the crash were elderly people between the ages of four and 18, US officials say.

The US, four people, including children, were killed when a car ran into after-school camps in a village outside Chicago, authorities said.

The deceased, ages 4 to 18, were murdered after the vehicle was driven to the east side of a building that houses an after-school camp in Chatham, Illinois, police said in a statement Monday.

“The vehicle is passing through the building after attacking multiple people outside the building. The vehicle has attacked multiple people inside. [the] Before we can go through the west wall of the building,” police said.

“Several additional individuals were transferred to a local hospital by ambulance and the other by a lifeflight helicopter,” police added.

Police said the vehicle driver and only resident were not clearly injured and were taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

It was not immediately clear what caused the crash, and authorities did not specify whether they believed it was intentional or an accident.

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker said the incident was “terrifyingly saddened.”

“Our community has lost a group of cheerful, innocent youth who have been before them for a lifetime,” Pretzker said in a statement posted to X.

“My parents said goodbye to their children this morning, knowing that it would be the last time. My heart is heavy for these families, and the unimaginable sadness they are experiencing. It’s something parents have to endure.”

The crash is the latest in a series of recent incidents involving people driving to groups of people.

On Saturday, 11 people were killed and 32 injured as SUVs ran down a crowded street at a Philippine Heritage Festival in Vancouver, Canada.

Prosecutors say 30-year-old Vancouver resident Kai the Adam Law is charged with 8 counts of second-degree murder in the case.

On January 1st, 14 people were killed in a city in New Orleans, USA, and a man took part in a Great Year Day celebration to plow a pickup truck into the crowd.

The FBI said they found weapons and an ISIL (ISIS) flag in the suspect’s vehicle, after 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar was shot dead by a police officer in response to the scene.
