Openai has begun rolling out GPT-4.5, the latest AI model with advanced visual and agent capabilities. For now, only ChATGPT Pro users were able to access it in the research preview, causing user discussion. Some are excited about the upgrade, others feel they are being ruled out, others are asking for a massive cancellation if Openai is not available to anyone.
Leaked screenshots from the ChatGpt Android app confirmed the rollout, with Openai’s official Subreddit R/ChatGpt doubled with a post that read “GPT 4.5 is here.” The app notification states: “Try the GPT-4.5 research preview. Pro users now have access to the biggest and most recent models.” It has no doubt as to where things stand.
Social Media Response to GPT-4.5: Praise, Response, and Calls for Action
Social media is bustling with mixed reactions. Some users welcome upgrades, while others argue that paywalls limit access to critical AI advances. Frustration leads to discussions about coordinated behavior, with some users suggesting massive cancellations if Openai does not make the model more widely available.
Leaks and reports containing screenshots of the ChatGpt Android app further strengthened these conversations by reviewing impending releases and notifications that notify PRO users of access to GPT-4.5. Ongoing discussions highlight concerns about AI accessibility, pricing, and Openai’s approach to deploying new models.
Openai is currently facing the challenge of keeping innovation moving while satisfying its user base. Future GPT-5 releases may be smoother, but for now, the GPT-4.5 rollout is shining a spotlight on Openai’s approach to model accessibility and user engagement.

What’s next for Openai and GPT-5?
The move is alongside Openai’s broader plans. CEO Sam Altman recently spoke about complicating Openai’s products. He acknowledged the current lineup of models is messy and said he wanted to regain a more seamless AI experience. “We hate model pickers just like you, and want to go back to the magical unified intelligence,” Altman told The Verge.
GPT-4.5, internally known as “Orion,” is expected to become Openai’s final model before moving towards AI in mindset. The next release, GPT-5, combines a variety of technologies, including the O3 Reasoning model, to create a more integrated experience. Openai doesn’t share a solid release date, but Altman said the GPT-5 will arrive “week/month”.
