Despite a wedding with a reported 1,000-person guest list, it looks like Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey’s Madison Square Garden celebration will still have a velvet rope.
The reported wedding has become a full-blown spectacle in the middle of sweltering Manhattan, with fans, photographers, and celebrity watchers all trying to find out who will actually enter the garden. But the more obvious question may be who doesn’t.
While many celebrities are reportedly gearing up for the big night, the list of people who, like us, are likely ready to watch wedding content on Instagram is also pretty long.

Prince William and Duchess Catherine
Despite weeks of speculation, Prince William and Duchess Kate will not be attending Swift and Kelce’s wedding. Talk of the Prince and Princess of Wales attending was dropped in a People magazine report after Prince William appeared on British radio show Heart Breakfast in May and jokingly said he might be invited.
Prince William has known Swift for years, famously joining her and Jon Bon Jovi on stage in 2013, and then accompanying Prince George and Princess Charlotte on the Elas Tour in London, where the royal family posed with Swift and Kelsey backstage.

Blake Lively has long been one of Swift’s most visible and close friends, so she was one of the most talked about candidates for her possible absence from the wedding. Lively directed Swift’s music video for “I Bet You Think About Me,” Swift has used the names of Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ children in “Betty” and other songs, and the couple has been regularly part of Swift’s public friend circle, from outings in New York to the 2024 Super Bowl, where Swift cheered Kelsey on.
The reported tension stems from Lively and Justin Baldoni’s legal battle over It Ends With Us, with Swift being drawn into the surrounding drama despite not appearing in the film.
As the controversy unfolded, reports mentioned Swift in court filings and text messages, and Baldoni’s camp accused Lively of using her friendship with Swift in conversations about the film. Swift’s rep denied that she had any involvement in It Ends With Us beyond licensing the “My Tears Ricochet” soundtrack, but the damage appears to have been done.
Miles Teller and Kelly Sperry
Miles Teller and his wife Kelly Sperry are also reportedly not on the guest list. Sources close to the couple claim they weren’t invited despite Swift’s once-close relationship with Kelsea, which allegedly ended due to drama between Swift and Lively and Sperry didn’t want to get involved.
Sperry and Teller were spotted with Swift early in their relationship with Kelsey, including at the 2024 Super Bowl. Teller later appeared on Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast, where he referred to Travis as his “brother.” That doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.

The widely discussed fracture, often linked to Scooter Braun, who acquired Swift’s Big Machine master recording in 2019, sparked one of the most public controversies of Swift’s career. Kloss’ 2018 wedding to Joshua Kushner was the subject of speculation as Brown reportedly attended as a guest and Swift did not attend.
However, Cross’s marital status is troublesome. Some media outlets reported that she was not invited, but TMZ suggested the opposite. Considering she served as GA on the Eras tour, I’m going to choose the former.

This choice is not surprising. Kardashian and Swift’s history dates back to 2016 when they clashed over Kanye West’s song “Famous.” West claimed Swift approved the lyrics about him, and Kardashian released an edited clip of a phone call between West and Swift. The full version of the call was later leaked in 2020, supporting Swift’s claims that she was not informed about the most offensive lyrics.

The feud became one of the defining celebrity feuds of Swift’s Reputation era, complete with snake emojis, public backlash, and longtime fan analysis. Taylor also has a song called “thanK you IMee” with the letters “KIM” in capital letters. It’s really subtle.

It is widely believed that Scooter Braun is also not on the guest list. The reason is obvious. Swift’s long-running masters dispute began after Brown’s Ithaca Holdings acquired Big Machine Label Group in 2019, giving Brown control of the master recordings of Swift’s first six albums. Swift publicly criticized the deal, and the controversy eventually became a major topic of artist rights, as Swift began re-recording older albums.

Swift’s ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris is also on the rumored “not invited” list. Although she doesn’t have as dramatic a career as Kardashian-West, confusion arose in 2016 after Swift’s team admitted that she co-wrote Harris and Rihanna’s hit song “This Is What You Come For” under the pseudonym Nils Sjöberg. Harris responded with a series of tweets, including one accusing Swift’s team of trying to make him look bad after their breakup. At least we got some really good songs.

John Mayer is another ex-boyfriend likely to be far away from the Garden on July 3rd. Mayer started dating Swift when he was 32 and she was 19. After their breakup, Swift released “Dear John,” a song fans long believed was about Mayer. Mayer told Rolling Stone magazine that the song made him feel “really humiliated” and called it “cheesy songwriting.”
His “cheap songwriting” led to him being inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, but that’s another story.
Charli XCX
Speaking of artists who may have been invited to appear on The Life of a Showgirl, it is rumored that Charli XCX will not be participating. Rumors of a feud between the two began after Charli released “Sympathy Is a Knife” from Brat, which some listeners interpreted as criticism of Swift. Swift appears to have responded with “Actually Romantic,” a song that fans believe is about Charlie and includes the poignant line, “Coke makes me brave and I heard you call me a boring Barbie.”
Charli is also engaged to George Daniel, the drummer for the 1975, the same band fronted by Matty Healy, whom Swift briefly dated in 2023 and wrote the entire album in 2024.

Most weddings don’t include ex-lovers of the bride and groom, unless everyone involved has reached an unusually high level of emotional maturity, so Nicole’s absence shouldn’t be particularly shocking. Well, of course, who else but Harry Styles will be attending with his fiancée, Zoe Kravitz. Now we call it growth.
