Naim Qassem’s comments came when Israeli forces said they had carried over 50 strikes in Lebanon this month.

Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem asked the Lebanese government to work hard to end daily attacks within the country the day after Israeli air strike targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut, the day after a ceasefire was agreed in late November last year.

In a televised speech on Monday, Qassem said that Hezbollah had implemented a ceasefire agreement to end the 14-month war, but Israel continues to launch a ruthless air of attacks.

When Israeli forces said they had taken more than 50 strikes in Lebanon this month, Qassem’s comments allegedly violated a US-brokered ceasefire in response to threats to Israel and Hezbollah.

Rights groups have condemned Israel’s attacks on Lebanon, saying they are violating the ceasefire agreement.

On Sunday, Israeli fighters struck Beirut’s southern suburbs after issuing warnings about an hour ago, marking the third Israeli strike in the region since the November ceasefire. Israeli forces said they had attacked a precision guided missile facility.

“Pressure on America”

After the strike, Lebanon’s Joseph Orn accused Israel of undermining Lebanon’s stability and intensifying tensions. He said the Israeli attacks pose a “real danger to security” in the region.

“Yesterday, the invasion targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut. The attack has no justification…it’s a political attack aimed at changing rules by force,” Qassem said of the attack on Sunday.

“Resistance was 100% compliant. [ceasefire] Transactions and I will tell state officials it is your duty to ensure protection,” Qassem said, adding that Lebanese officials should contact sponsors of the ceasefire and put pressure on Israel to stop the attack.

“Pressure the US and let us understand that Lebanon cannot rise unless its aggression stops,” Kasem said, pointing to a Lebanese official. He added that the US has an interest in Lebanon and that “stability achieves these benefits.”

Qassem said the full Israeli withdrawal from Israel, the end of Israel’s domestic strike and the release of Lebanese people held in Israel since the war officially ended on November 27th.

The day after Hezbollah led the attack on October 7, 2023, began launching rockets, drones and missiles into Israel, which responded with mass bombings of Gaza. Around 1,200 Israeli people were killed, and 251 others were accused during the attack in southern Israel.

The war was further fired last September when Israel carried out a wave of air across Lebanon, assassinating most of the group’s senior leaders, including Hassan Nasrara. The battle killed more than 4,000 people in Lebanon, most of which were civilians.

The Lebanese government said earlier this month that 190 people have been killed and 485 have been injured in Lebanon due to Israeli strikes since the ceasefire took effect.
