Anthropic has pushed to bolster its enterprise strategy and acquired the co-founders and most of the team behind Humanloop, a platform for rapid management, LLM assessment and observability.
Although the terms of the transaction were not shared, it appears to follow the acquisition-employment playbook increasingly seen in the tech industry amid the war on AI talent. Three co-founders of Humanloop – CEOs Raza Habib, CTO Peter Hayes and CPO Jordan Burgess, all joined humanity, along with around 12 engineers and researchers.
Humanity is growing rapidly in the enterprise space to lead the agent and coding capabilities. A humanity spokesman confirmed that AI companies have not acquired Humanloop’s assets or their intellectual property, but that’s a controversy in the industry where IP lives in the brain. And what the Humanloop team brings to humanity is their experience in developing tools that help businesses run large, safe and reliable AI.
Or, as Brad Abrams, the leader of human API products, he said, “Our proven experience in AI tools and evaluation is invaluable as we continue to work towards AI safety and building useful AI systems.”
In markets where model quality alone is not enough to remain competitive, strengthening its touring ecosystem allows for humanity to position itself and solidify its leads beyond the deep minds of Openai and Google, where performance and enterprise ready.
Humanloop was founded in 2020 as a spin-out of University College London. The startup then joined Y Combinator and Fughes Incubator before raising $7.91 million in seed funding in two rounds led by YC and Index Ventures on each Pitchbook. Humanloop has gained a reputation for helping customers from companies such as Duolingo, Gusto, and Vanta develop, evaluate and tweak robust AI applications.
Last month, Humanloop told customers it would shut down in preparation for the acquisition.

The timing of this acquisition is to provide enterprise clients with features such as long-context Windows, improving what the model can do and where it can be applied.
Earlier this week, humanity signed a contract with the US government’s central purchasing division to enforce AI services for just $1 per person per year in the first year, selling AI services to government agencies in the judicial and legislative sectors. Both governments and corporate buyers are demanding the types of evaluation, monitoring and compliance features that Humanloop specializes in.
The acquisition also exists in human brands as it charges itself as a “safety-first” AI company. Humanloop’s assessment workflow matches its mission by providing constant performance measurements, safety guardrails and bias mitigation.
