The latest forced evacuation orders come as Israel strengthens its military operations in Gaza after it defeats the ceasefire.
Israel has issued a new forced evacuation order for Rafa in southern Gaza.
Avichay Adraee, the military’s Arabic spokesman, announced on X on Monday morning that the Army has returned to “fight against great forces” in Rafah, one of Gaza’s biggest cities and surrounding areas.
He called on the Palestinians to move to Almawasi’s shelter on the coast soon. The area regularly comes under Israeli fires during the war in Gaza, despite being designated as a “safe zone.”
Shortly after the evacuation order, Al-Jazeera Arabic reported that at least two people had been killed during Israeli attacks on people in tent housing in the area.
Last week, the UN Humanitarian Agency (OCHA) reported that 142,000 people have been evacuated since Israel broke a fragile January ceasefire on March 18th, renewing its war with the enclave.
Gaza’s health ministry reports that more than 900 people have been killed since artillery fire resumed. It said it has paid more than 50,000 deaths since the start of the war in October 2023.
The Hamas attack on southern Gaza on October 7th killed 1,139 people and about 250 were taken prisoner, setting the onslaught of Israeli onslaught.
Grimweed celebration
The Israeli attack continues to rain in Gaza as Palestinians observe Eid al-Fitr, a three-day holiday that marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
At least 64 Palestinians were killed on Sunday, the first day of Eid. By Monday morning, the situation in Gaza had the same harsh outlook, with at least nine people killed in Israeli attacks.
In a report from Deia El Bara in central Gaza, Hind Khoudary of Al Jazeera explained that Israeli forces had attacked “at least seven different family homes” in Khan Younis, another major city in southern Gaza.
“There were also endless artillery fires in the central part of the Gaza Strip, in the area very close to the corridors of Nuseirat and Netzarim,” she said, adding that three farmers had been killed in the area.
In Beit Hanoon in northern Gaza, children who once celebrated the happy occasions of Eid are now spending their days in fear of public holidays.
“We are too scared to get close to the beach in case the Israelis send us,” Wissam Nassar told Al Jazeera.
Hussein Alcafana added: “We are not pleased with this Eid. We are unable to wear new clothes and we don’t care about the constant fear we live in.” Palestinians inspect the location of Israeli attacks on Khan Yunis’s home on the Gaza Strip. [Hatem Khaled/Reuters]
