Gaza’s health ministry said almost 50 people have been killed around Jabaria and 10 others in the southern city of Khan Yunis.
There were no immediate comments from the Israeli military.
In Jabaria, rescuers used hand tools illuminated only by the light of the phone’s camera to destroy fallen concrete slabs and remove some of the killed children.
Report from Deia El Bala in central Gaza, Al Jazeera’s Tarek Abu Azum said Israel is running a “systematic and strengthening military air campaign.”
“[It’s] “Mainly we will target residential homes to help families leave these areas and move them to live in makeshift tents and promote plans to drive them out of northern Gaza,” he said.
“This is a very dramatic reality, highlighting the seriousness of the humanitarian sacrifices that children and displaced people in northern Gaza have endured over the past week,” Abuazum added.
The attack came when Israeli delegation was in Doha to continue indirect ceasefire talks with Hamas via mediators Qatar, Egypt and the United States the day after Israeli prisoner Edan Alexander was released during a brief pause in Israeli artillery fire.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu repeated on Tuesday that Israel would not end its military campaign in Gaza, even if it reached a ceasefire contract.
Israeli attacks on Gaza have killed at least 52,908 people since October 2023, according to Gaza Health Authorities.
Israeli attacks have devastated many of Gaza’s urban landscapes, making it difficult to avoid more than 90% of the population, often multiple.
Israel launched a military campaign in response to a Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, killing at least 1,139 people, according to an Al Jazeera tally based on Israeli statistics.
France condemns Israel’s blockade
International food security experts have issued harsh warnings that Gaza is likely to hunger if Israel does not lift the blockade and stop the military attacks.
French President Emmanuel Macron has denounced Netanyahu’s decision to stop him from entering Gaza as a “stigma” that caused a major humanitarian crisis.
“I’m forced to say that, what the Benjamin Netanyahu government is doing today is unacceptable,” Macron told TF1 National Television Tuesday evening. “There is no medicine. You can’t put out an injured person. The doctor cannot enter. What he is doing is dishonorable. That’s dishonorable.”
Last month, Macron visited an injured Palestinian at El Arias Hospital in Egypt, called on humanitarian convoys to reopen the Gaza border. “Then, yes, we have to condemn Hamas, release the hostages and fight to build a political solution,” he said.
While almost half a million Palestinians face starvation that may live in “devastating” levels of starvation, the other million people barely get enough food, according to findings from the integrated food security stage classification, an international leading authority on the severity of the hunger crisis.
Israel has banned all food, shelters, medicines and other goods from entering Palestinian territory for the past 10 weeks.
Gaza’s population of around 2.3 million relies on almost entirely to survive on external aid as Israel’s 19-month military campaign wiped out most of its ability to produce food within its territory.
