Joby Aviation doubled the size and capacity of its pilot manufacturing facility in Marina, California.

According to Joby, the 435,500-square-foot facility can now produce 24 aircraft per year, with “almost one” per week. The facility also supports federal accreditation, ground and flight testing, pilot training and aircraft maintenance.

TechCrunch asked when he hopes Joby will produce full capacity updates from Joby’s first scaled facility in Dayton, Ohio.

Joby has enlisted an engineer from investor Toyota to help build both sites. In May, Toyota closed its first $250 million tranche of its previously announced $500 million Joby investment.

News about Joby’s expansion pilot facility comes as the EVTOL company adds a sixth aircraft to its fleet. Joby says the aircraft was certified airworthiness within a week of completion.

Joby was published in 2021 through the SPAC merger. The company will first launch its commercial business in Dubai in early 2026 and will then begin in US cities.
