On January 28, the EUPEX project will hold a workshop entitled “Preparing applications and European users to efficiently exploit future ARM-based exascale machines” at HiPEAC 2026 in Krakow.
EUPEX is a European project that brings together academic and industrial partners to co-design exascale-capable pilot systems based on European technologies.
This pilot aims to prepare users and the HPC community to effectively use ARM-based architectures and future European exascale processors like SiPearl chips.
HiPEAC was chosen for this workshop because it is Europe’s leading annual high-performance networking and embedded computing conference, fostering collaboration and innovation across academia and industry.
This workshop session will focus on ARM-based architectures and provide practical insights on optimizing applications and improving energy efficiency on these cutting-edge systems.
Workshop focus and objectives
Participants will explore strategies for achieving efficient application performance on future ARM-based exascale machines, including porting applications to the ARM architecture, energy profiling, and optimization techniques.
The workshop will also provide a comprehensive overview of the European HPC ecosystem, allowing participants to understand the broader context in which EUPEX projects operate.
In this context, high-performance computing and technological sovereignty are now key priorities.
Additionally, participants will discover tools and best practices designed to improve the energy efficiency of these next-generation systems.
This workshop is especially important for researchers, software developers, and HPC professionals who want to enhance both the performance and sustainability of high-performance computing.
Participants will have the opportunity to interact with experts, exchange ideas and gain practical experience on approaches that support Europe’s strategic move towards energy efficient exascale infrastructure.
