Cox’s version, also known colloquially as the Tron dress, extended the red and black design from the runway to the floor. The sleeveless silhouette followed the body from a plunging V-neckline, with raised red lines arranged in a curved web-like grid over a black base. Cinched across the waist, widened around the hips, and dropped into a long vertical band along the skirt, Mugler’s anatomical precision is given a decidedly computerized finish.
Cox kept the shoes in the same harsh black palette. Her pointy-toed boots combined a matte panel on the front with shiny sections along the sides and shaft. Glamorous drop earrings, long honey blonde waves with bangs, and a saturated red lip completed the look.

The spider design comes from Mugler’s fall 2001 collection, Les Fauve, which was presented in March 2001 as Manfred Thierry Mugler’s final ready-to-wear show. A midi-length version appeared on the runway under a black coat with red lining, with a graphic grid running across the bust, waist and skirt. The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute also has related long-sleeved dresses made from synthetic materials and metals from the same season.
For Cox, this selection was less a one-night archive and more a new chapter in a collection she had built with extraordinary depth. She reportedly owns over 500 vintage Mugler pieces.

Her recent carpet made that knowledge visible. Cox revisited Mugler’s fall 1996 collection in a curved black corset at the “A Very Jonas Christmas Movie” premiere last November, following her nude-like fantasy Mugler dress and vintage centerpiece collar at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards. At the 2024 People’s Choice Awards, she wore a black velvet winged bustier from 1988.

The Seattle appearance added purpose to that night’s fashion history. Lifelong presented Cox with the Pride in Action Award for her advocacy and impact on LGBTQ+ representation at the Lifelong and Seattle Pride fundraising gala.
