Lexi Maintree pays homage to Reese Witherspoon’s 2014 Met Gala look

Lexi Minnettree continued her streak of Elle Woods method dressing at the Elle UK premiere in London on Tuesday, referencing Reese Witherspoon’s past red carpet looks.

Styled by Molly Dixon, Maintree wore a bright fuchsia strapless dress on Tuesday night’s red carpet. The dress is made with a plunging curvaceous neckline and a fitted frame, as well as a small train that follows the main tree.

The Stella McCartney dress was the exact same one worn by Witherspoon at the Met Gala celebrating the “Charles James: Beyond Fashion” exhibit in May 2014. Dixon worked as an assistant to stylist Leslie Framer, who curated Witherspoon’s 2014 look. Dixon described recreating the Main Tree ensemble as a “true full-circle moment” on her Instagram Story.

In addition to her Stella McCartney dress, Minnetree’s look was accessorized with fuchsia studs and an Annabella Chan ring, which she coordinated with her strapless look. On the glamor side, Minnetree’s hair was pulled up in a messy bun, with lots of curls and wisps to frame her face. Her makeup included bold eyebrows, dramatic eyes, and glossy lips.

Maintree’s “Elle” promotional tour wardrobe, curated by Dixon, is filled with designer items inspired by the 2001 film “Legally Blonde.” For the New York City premiere on June 23, Maintree wore a custom Betsey Johnson princess dress in soft pink tones.

“When I came, [Dickson] I was like, “Elle Woods is a fashion icon and I want to pay homage to that.” “Obviously I want to pay homage to ’90s fashion and haute couture, but I also want to tip my hat to the Elle movie,” Minnetree told WWD ahead of the New York premiere.

Playing Elle Woods in the Legally Blonde prequel series gave Maintree a huge boost of confidence, she said, “because I think as human beings, we all have moments where we question and wonder if we’re good enough. And this character that I’m playing just sees the best in people and sees the best in himself. I think sometimes we don’t value ourselves enough.” “I’m like, ‘You know what? I’m going to apply that same energy to my life of believing in myself.'”

Set in 1995, before the events of “Legally Blonde,” “Elle” depicts the formative high school years of Elle Woods, played by Maintree. The series is currently streaming on Prime Video.
