The slow goals by Lionel Messi and Telasco Segovia allow Inter to split points on the road against the Philadelphia Union.

Intermiami fought 3-1 to 3-1 and grabbed a 3-3 draw at the Philadelphia Union, leader of the MLS Eastern Conference.

Israeli forward Tai Chi Baribo scored twice in Philadelphia on Saturday, giving the advantage of two goals, but Lionel Messi gave Miami’s hope with an 87-minute free kick before Segovia’s dramatic 95th minute goal scored Inter’s points.

Quinn Sullivan, who was called to the US national team by Mauricio Pockettino this week, fired Philadelphia seven minutes early in seven minutes after Miami’s defense failed to close.

Baribo went 2-0 with an instinctive finish in the 44th minute as Miami continued to have defensive trouble.

Visitors took footing in the game in the 60th minute when Noah Allen floated on the cross from the left where the solid header of Argentine Tadeo Allende met.

However, Philadelphia recovered two-goal cushions when Miami was unable to clear from the long throw and Jean Jacques Danley hit the loose ball and Balibo fired into the house.

Messi defeated Union Keeper Andrew Rick with a distinctively driven free kick to set the desperate finale with the sixth goal of the season three from the end of regulation time.

Jovan Lukic hit the bar from inside the box early in the stoppage time to close the victory, but after a good job from Messi, Segovia hit him and blow up the house, leaving him in crestfall for five minutes of stoppage time.

The results were a welcome sign for Miami’s character, but they have only one victory in the last eight games in all competitions that have recognized 23 goals.

Javier Maschelano’s side was sixth in the Eastern Conference, with the former Barcelona and Argentine midfielder praised his team’s response.

“We showed personality. We showed personality. We recognized goals at first, another difficult start to the game.

“We tend to be a bad trend, but there’s a lot of spirit that comes back to us at the beginning of the season to get us back on the team,” he added before demanding better from the backline.

“We can’t accept every corner kick and every throw-in and give our opponents the chance to score. …We need to be more focused in those situations,” Mascherano said.
