Meta announced Tuesday that it will launch two types of Ray-Ban smart glasses designed for prescription wearers. While many people already use Metaglasses with prescription lenses, the company says these new glasses are compatible with almost any prescription and are made to better serve people who rely on glasses all day long.

The new glasses start at $499 and will be available at U.S. optical stores and in select international markets starting April 14th. It will be sold in two styles: the Blayzer, a rectangular design available in standard and large sizes, and the Scriber, a more rounded frame style.

Mehta says the glasses are built for all-day comfort and are the most comfortable glasses he’s ever designed.

Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics (Gen 2) and Ray-Ban Scriber Optics (Gen 2) glasses are designed for a personalized fit and feature flexible hyperextension hinges, replaceable nose pads, and temple tips that your optician can adjust to fit your face shape.

Meta also announced the introduction of new color and lens options for Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta frames. The Ray-Ban Meta Skyler frames come in Shiny Transparent Peach with Transition Brown lenses, Matte Transparent Peach Headliner Frame with Transition Gray Lenses, and Shiny Transparent Gray Wayfarer Frames with Transition Sapphire Lenses.

When it comes to Oakley Meta Vanguard glasses, Meta offers Vanguard Black with Prizm Black lenses, Vanguard White with Prizm Rose Gold lenses, Vanguard Black with Prizm Transitions Ember lenses, HSTN Black with Prizm Dark Golf lenses, and HSTN Light Curry with Clear to Brown Transitions lenses.

Meta is also bringing more AI features to its smart glasses. The company says it’s now easier to track nutrition with glasses, as users can record their meals hands-free using voice or a simple photo. Meta AI captures important nutritional details and adds them to your food record. Over time, your food records will give you personalized insights to help you make healthier choices.

Meta is also introducing hands-free WhatsApp summaries and recalls into its Early Access Program (EAP). Users can ask for an overview of the group chat, “Hey Meta, listen to my message,” or ask for specific details, like “What did Jamie suggest for dinner?” Meta says interactions are handled on-device and end-to-end encryption ensures privacy.

Additionally, neural handwriting functionality on Meta Ray-Ban displays will roll out to everyone in the coming weeks. This feature allows users to silently and discreetly reply to messages by writing with their finger on any surface. Works with Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and native messaging on Android and iOS.
