France’s AI Lab Mistral introduced a variety of new features to its LE Chat Chat Bot on Thursday, bringing closer to rivals like Openai and Google. New updates include a new “deep search” mode, native multilingual inference, and advanced image editing.
This news comes just days after Mistral released voxtral. This is the first open source AI audio model that can be inferred in multiple languages, transcription, etc. Voxtral is also available from Le Chat.
Mistral says that, as its rivals offer, the new deep search mode will turn LE chat into a coordinated research assistant, allowing you to plan, clarify your needs, search and integrate data.
“What the model does is actually look at a wide variety of sources on the web and answer specific questions,” Elisa Salamanca, head of product at Mistral, told TechCrunch. “We believe this feature is very relevant for both consumer and corporate use cases, as it allows us to investigate travel and provide a thorough analysis of the best travel plans.
While updates are available for all tiers, including Free, Pro, Team, Enterprise, and more, Salamanca points out that Mistral is focusing on integrating Le Chat and Mistral’s productivity suite with this release. That’s mostly because Mistral handles data connectors differently than their competitors.
“Many customers who have very sensitive data don’t actually use cloud services. Or do that on their own premises in a virtual private cloud,” Salamanca said, citing bank, defense and government customers.
To address this, Salamanca said Mistral’s LE chat and productivity suite will connect to Enterprise Data’s on-premises. In other words, businesses can use Le Chat’s deep inference and other features to analyze their own internal data without having to upload anything to the cloud. This is a meaningful differentiator for Cloud-Native LLM platforms such as Azure-Hosted’s Openai and Google Cloud-based Gemini. It also opens the door for Mistral to provide other productivity tools.

“The majority of our value proposition is what we want to create, especially when we release Le Chat Enterprise. [things like] Microsoft Excel and Google Docs, such office suites, work together to seamlessly align our capabilities,” Salamanca said. These connectors are built internally because we believe this will be key to using LE chat as a productivity enabler in a business context. ”
Apart from deep reasoning, Le Chat has won other updates today. Users were able to use Le Chat via complex questions via Magistral, Mistral’s new inference AI model, but the functionality was previously only available in English. Currently, Mistral natively supports multilingual reasoning in languages such as French, Spanish and Japanese. Mistral says Le Chat can also code switches between the central parts of the language.
This latest update from Mistral also includes adding projects. This helps users stay organized by grouping chats, documents and ideas into a centralized space. Each project can have its own default library, so remember the tools and settings that you have enabled. According to Mistral, use cases include planning moves, designing new product features, and maintaining work-related projects.
Finally, Le Chat has gained improved image editing capabilities. This allows users to create and edit images at prompts such as “Delete Object” or “Play Me in Another City.”
This new feature has made Mistral more competitive with the AI industry’s forefront, placing Le Chat as a candidate for the full stack as well as model demos.
