Three empty buses exploded on Thursday evening, but Israeli police found two more uninduced bombs.

Israel is preparing for “intensive” operations on the occupied West Bank after bombs exploded on three empty buses in Israel’s central parking lot.

Israeli security services say the Thursday evening bombing, which did not cause casualties, was the work of an armed group, according to Israeli media.

“Following the attempt to commit a massive bus bombing chain, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has just completed his security assessment,” the Israeli Prime Minister told social media.

“The Prime Minister ordered [military] Performing intensive operations against the Jewish and Samaria terrorism centers [the occupied West Bank]. The Prime Minister also ordered the Israeli police and the ISA. [Israeli Security Agency] To increase prevention activities against additional attacks in Israeli cities,” Netanyahu’s office said.

Parts of the West Bank were soon sealed, with further restrictions imposed on the movement of Palestinians. Citing an unnamed security official, the Jerusalem post reported that the explosives were linked to “terrorist infrastructure” on the West Bank.

Israeli police will inspect a series of bus explosions on Thursday, February 20, 2025, which they described as an extremist attack in Bat Yam Yam, central Israel.

Israeli forces later announced that they had deployed three additional units at the “central headquarters” responsible for Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank to expand their weeks-long attacks on Palestinian communities.

” [Israeli military] We are preparing to continue conducting ongoing situational assessments and expanding our offensive activities,” the military said.

The bombs destroyed three empty buses parked in a depot around Bhatyam, a city south of Tel Aviv, but two additional uninduced bombs were discovered by police in the area.

The investigation was passed to Israeli Sinbet’s internal security agency.

Police said the explosives were likely intended to disappear on the way to work on Friday morning, explaining the device as the same as others in use on the West Bank. , no further details were provided.

“We need to determine whether a single suspect placed an explosive on many buses or whether there were multiple suspects,” police spokesman Heim Salglov told Israeli media. .

Al Jazeera correspondent Noor Ode said Palestinians on the West Bank were even more terrified following the explosion and “announcement of stepped-up Israeli military action.”

“The occupied West Bank, especially in the north of Talcarem and Jenin, was subject to unprecedented military attacks, resulting in massive forced displacements of over 40,000 people,” Ode said.

Israeli forces have established hundreds of checkpoints on the occupied West Bank since the start of the attack on January 21, during which time at least 70 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces.

There was also the extensive destruction of civilian infrastructure in the community by Israeli military.
