Nintendo announced on Friday that the live-action The Legend of Zelda film will premiere on March 26, 2027.

It’s a bit strange to announce this the day after a Nintendo in-person live stream. There, gaming companies usually drop off all the recent news. But it was intentional. The company hopes fans will download the new app, Nintendo, today! – Yes, that admiration is about themselves – to learn the latest news.

At the Nintendo direct event on Thursday, Nintendo Game Director Miyamoto concluded his presentation by presenting today’s Nintendo! News app. Since Nintendo used the channel exclusively to announce the release date for the “Zelda” movie, anyone who downloaded it quickly has paid off.

The app is intended to provide daily news about a variety of Nintendo games, allowing users to customize the app and prioritize their favorite franchises.

There are so many new movies and TV shows throughout the entertainment industry that are based on existing IPs, and this reminder about the “Zelda” movie could be flat.

For Nintendo, investment in existing IPs proves a financially sound strategy. The “Super Mario Bros” film, grossing $1.3 billion at the box office with a production budget of $100 million, is the 18th highest global release in history.

While “Zelda” may not have the exact same universal perception as “Mario,” it should be noted that the “Breath of the Wild” game sold over 34 million copies more than the Pokemon Gold, Silver and Crystal games.

Nintendo is preparing to release more information on the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 system next week, so perhaps we should pay attention to Nintendo today! App for early details.
