Oncade raises a $4 million seed round from the A16Z CSX, helping game studios skip app stores and share revenue with players

San Francisco-based startup Oncade has drawn in $4 million in seed funds to help game developers get free from the grip of their app store and take players as partners.

The round was led by A16Z CSX and supported by a group of well-known founders and Game Insiders.

Instead of passing over 30% of your revenue to a mobile or PC platform, Oncade offers studios a way to sell games directly to audiences through community-driven storefronts. Think of it as flipping the script. Players don’t just play. They promote and promote profits from the games they love.

Behind the startups are two heavyweights in the industry. Previously Stavros Lee from EA, Activision, Ouya, Meta and Coinbase. And Greg Raidorf has organized his multiplayer experience in Call of Duty for over a decade. Together, they aim to reconstruct the way games are sold and those who benefit from success.

“In the game, the value distribution is broken,” Lee said. “Studies, players, creators, and people who drive our community aren’t getting the right share of our financial rewards. We’re here to change that.”

Reisdorf doubled its mission and added:

“We’re not just building platforms, we’re building movements. The next era of games will belong to empowered communities and co-studios.”

How Oncade works

Oncade transforms your loyal fanbase into a distribution network. Players can earn money as affiliate marketing by promoting, creating and selling items in the game. This worked well for giants like Roblox, Fortnite, CS:Go. However, Oncade wants to make such a system available to all developers, regardless of size.

Allows you to tap Studios using a platform backed by Stablecoin Infrastructure.

There are no more 30% platform cuts

The idea is simple. Studios activate their communities, promote more sales and maintain more profits. In return, players become part of the business, earning through sales, helping to grow the games they already care about.

The whole picture

The cost of acquiring for users is increasing. The discovery is broken. And most studios don’t take advantage of their biggest asset: fans. Oncade wants to change that by turning passive audiences into active revenue engines and making the game’s economy fair for all involved.

A $4 million dollars for the bank, a strong founding team, and a clear mission, Oncade is betting that the future of game delivery is not an app store.
