OpenAI is an AI company aiming to grow enterprise businesses in 2026, strengthening its partnerships with four leading consulting companies.

OpenAI announced the Frontier Alliance on Monday. This shows that AI Lab is willing to try different approaches to get companies to meaningfully adopt its technology. The collaboration includes a multi-year partnership between OpenAI and four leading consulting firms, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), McKinsey, Accenture, and Capgemini, to sell enterprise products.

OpenAI’s Forward Deployment Engineering team works with consulting giants to help customers implement OpenAI’s enterprise technologies, such as OpenAI Frontier, into their customers’ technology stacks.

The company launched OpenAI Frontier in early February. Open, code-free software allows users to build, deploy, and manage AI agents built on OpenAI’s AI models and other models.

In its latest announcement, OpenAI argues that consultants are the right way to get companies on board.

“AI will not be the only driver of change. It must be tied to strategy, embedded in redesigned processes, and deployed at scale with incentives and culture aligned to deliver sustainable results,” BCG CEO Christoph Schweitzer said in an OpenAI blog post. “Our expanded partnership combines OpenAI’s Frontier platform with BCG’s deep industry, functional and technology expertise, and BCG X’s building and scaling capabilities to help you stay safe and drive measurable impact from day one.”

So far, enterprise adoption of AI has been relatively slow as companies have struggled to find a meaningful return on investment from pursuing AI.

OpenAI’s partnership strategy makes sense and goes beyond simply selling companies to embed AI into their existing workflows. Instead, the effort is focused on consultants convincing companies to change their strategies and workflows to incorporate OpenAI’s tools where it makes sense.

It’s worth noting that OpenAI’s rival Anthropic has also signed deals with consulting giants like Deloitte and Accenture in recent months.

The company’s CFO Sarah Friar said in a January blog post that enterprise will be a big focus area for OpenAI in 2026. OpenAI also signed large enterprise AI deals with Snowflake and ServiceNow so far this year, in addition to appointing Barrett Zoff to lead the company’s enterprise sales operations in January.
