MILAN – OTB is strengthening its relationship with Viktor & Rolf by increasing its stake in the brand for full control.
The Italian fashion group founded by Renzo Rosso first acquired a 51% stake in Viktor & Rolf in 2008, increasing its stake to 70% in 2019.
Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, who founded the brand in 1993, will continue in their roles as creative directors for the next five years.
Financial details were not disclosed.
“Viktor and Rolf are two of the most visionary and influential designers in contemporary fashion,” Rosso said Thursday. “Over the years, we have built an extraordinary journey together, based on mutual respect, creative freedom and a constant desire to experiment with the most innovative language of contemporary haute couture. Today, by taking this further step, we are further strengthening our ties with a Maison that is truly unique in the international luxury world and continues to stand out for its creativity, artistic research and cultural relevance.”
OTB also controls the Diesel, Jil Sander, Maison Margiela and Marni brands, as well as the production units of Staff International and Brave Kid. It has also invested in Amiri.
“I am thrilled to continue my work as Creative Director of Viktor & Rolf and explore fashion as a laboratory for ideas and experimentation,” Horsting and Snorren said in a joint statement.
In addition to couture, the designer also offers ready-to-wear, bridal wear, and eyewear. The company also has a long-term collaboration with L’Oréal Luxe, which has been developing and selling luxury fragrances such as Flowerbombs, Spicebombs and Bonbons around the world for more than 20 years.
Their artwork has been celebrated by some of the world’s leading cultural institutions through exhibitions and showcases in Europe, Asia, and the United States, including the Met Museum in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum and Barbican Art Gallery in London, MAXXI in Rome, the Munich Museum, the High School of Art in Atlanta, and the SeaWorld Cultural Arts Center in Shenzhen.
