According to the law, Palestinian families who have been imprisoned or killed in Israel may apply for social welfare assistance, like others.

The Palestinian Authority (PA) has announced it will end a long-standing request by the United States and Israel that will provide payments to Palestinian families killed or imprisoned by Israel.

President Mahmoud Abbas on Monday issued a statute that “rescisses” legal provisions related to the allowance initiative.

The order presented this move as a reconstruction, moving the fund from the Ministry of Social Development to the Palestine National Foundation for Economic Empowerment.

The family said they are eligible for regular welfare payments like other Palestinians “according to standards of justice and universality,” but it is clear whether the allowance will cease immediately or continue in a new form. isn’t it.

It is not uncommon for a country to offer special payments to those killed in violent conflicts. However, the United States has long criticised the Palestinian so-called martyr fund, claiming it would reward the attacks on Israel, dubbing it as “payments to kill.”

Hamas on Monday denounced Abbas’ “unpatriotic” moves and called for it to be reversed immediately. “We need to be grateful rather than abandoning the sacrifices of prisoners, wounded and martyrs’ families,” the group said in a statement.

Israel has previously withheld and deducted Palestinian tax revenues over payments.

Abbas’ order comes into being the PA presenting to present itself as an internationally reliable option to take over Gaza.

PA security forces are also cracking down on fighter jets that have promised an armed struggle with Israel in the occupied West Bank.

In December, the PA launched a week-long security campaign at the Jenin refugee camp, stating it was intended to restore law and order, leading to accusations of placing siege in the area.

Following the PA campaign, Israel’s “Iron Wall” operation took place in Jenin. Jenin is part of a wider attack across the West Bank that intensified after the Gaza ceasefire contract came into effect last month.

According to the Jenin Chamber of Commerce, the Israeli invasion killed dozens of people, including women and children, causing a major blow to the local economy, causing at least $8.4 million in damages per day.

On Monday, Palestinians accused Israeli forces of destroying the Nursham refugee camp north of the territory. Ahmed Alza, an elderly resident, said the soldiers attacked people’s homes and forced them to leave.

“Destruction is everywhere in the camp,” he said. “The remaining residents are waiting for their turn. The camp is surrounded and Israeli forces are raiding all their homes.”

The United States offers Israel, which is being criticized by major rights groups that imposed apartheid on Palestinians.
