Francis was admitted to Rome Hospital on February 14th with a severe respiratory infection.

Pope Francis will be released from hospital on Sunday and will need two months of rest at the Vatican, one of the doctors treating him.

Francis, 88, was admitted to Rome Hospital on February 14th and suffered a severe respiratory infection that required evolving treatment.

Catholics and others around the world pray for him to recover. Many leave flowers, candles and notes to Francis outside the Jemeri University Hospital, where he is recognized.

Francis will be making his first public appearance since he got sick from the hospital on Sunday.

“Pope Francis will wave and offer his blessings from the Agostino Gemeri hospital in Rome after Angelus’ prayer,” the Vatican said Saturday.

Angelus’ prayers are usually recited by the Pope every Sunday at noon (11:00 GMT). However, his hospitalization led the Pope to miss these prayers for the first time since the March 2013 election for the first time in a row.

Francis was made public from Gemeri Hospital during his previous hospitalization. On July 11, 2021, he recited Angelus’ prayers from the balcony on the 10th floor of the hospital after colon surgery.

However, his current hospitalization is the longest in his Pope.

The Vatican said Wednesday that Francis suspended his use of oxygen masks, raising questions about anyone who may have “improved” his clinical status and lead a busy schedule of religious events leading up to Easter at the most sacred time in the Christian calendar.

The Vatican said no clear decision has yet been made in that regard.

Despite Francis’ improvements, there is plenty of speculation that he could follow in the footsteps of his predecessor, Benedict XVI, and resign due to his vulnerability.

On Monday, Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin told reporters that he had noticed improvements in Francis’ health.

However, when asked whether the conversation had been changed to the resignation of the Pope, he replied: “No, no, no, not at all.”
