A multibillion pound investment in UK transportation infrastructure has been announced by Prime Minister Rachel Reeves.

People in the north, the midlands and the southwest will benefit from the biggest investment ever in urban area buses, trams and local train infrastructure as the Prime Minister today promises UK renewal to make every part of today better.

Reeves will say that next week’s spending review will take a variety of options, with investments in “a new economic model driven by investments in all parts of the country, not small numbers.”

She will fund £15.6 billion for local transport projects in urban areas of the UK, including South Yorkshire, Northeast, East Midlands and Tees Valley, and announce the first investment announcement from the expenditure screening.

Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander said: “Today, we have a basin moment to improve transportation across the North and the Midlands to begin access to employment, grow the economy, and improve the quality of life as we realize our plans for change.

“For too long, people in the North and Midlands have been locked out of their worthy investments. With a government investment of £15.6 billion, we are giving local leaders a way to advance cities, towns and communities, and investing in renewals in the UK, as you and your family are better.”

“We are pleased to announce that we are committed to providing a range of services and services to providing services that will help us to create a range of services,” said Kate Nicholls, CEO of Ukhospitality. “This is a huge investment in regional transport, boosts the local economy and creates hospitality and tourism jobs. With the lack of transportation infrastructure in many parts of the country, this has a long way to go so that the UK can provide the most socially productive jobs.
