In Israel’s brutal war with Gaza, tens of thousands of people all over the world have gathered in solidarity with the Palestinians, marking the 1948 ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians by Naqbah or Jewish militias, remembered as catastrophes.
Nakba resulted in a permanent massive displacement of the Palestinians after Israel was founded in 1948. Activists say history repeats itself in Gaza and the West Bank, where it is today occupied.
In Stockholm, thousands gathered in Oden Plan Square to respond to calls from various civil society organisations to protest Israeli attacks on Gaza. Participants waving Palestinian flags, showing pictures of the killed children and carrying banners saying, “Stop the massacre of the Zionist regime in Palestinian.”
Many demonstrators carry placards cited the names of civilians killed in Gaza who are trying to highlight the ongoing massacre.
Meanwhile, in London, England, hundreds of thousands of people marched towards Downing Street, demanding that they end what they described as the Israeli massacre in Gaza 77 years after Nabba. Protesters dressed in kefier and waving the Palestinian flag chanted slogans such as “Stop genocide in Gaza,” “Free Palestine,” and “Israel is a terrorist state.”
The protesters have condemned Israeli blockade in the Gaza Strip, accusing more than two million Palestinians of intentionally starving, and the British government of criticizing Israel’s political and military support, and advocating for accomplice in the humanitarian crisis.
In Berlin, Germany, people gathered at Potsdamer Platz to protest Israeli attacks on Gaza. The protesters waving the Palestinian flag and carrying signs that read, “Your silence is an accomplice,” and “You cannot kill all of us.” There were also women in traditional dresses with Nakba themed visuals.
The event took place amid heavy security measures, with at least three people reportedly being detained.
A solidarity march was held in Athens, Greece. There, protesters were decorated with keffiy eys and raised the Palestinian flags, marching first to the embassies of America and Israel.
Protests have erupted after Israel has stepped up its attack and the announcement of a new ground attack has led to the murder of hundreds of Palestinians in the past few days.
Globally, May 15 was observed as the 77th anniversary of the 700,000 Palestinians being expelled from their homes after Israel was founded in 1948.
Israeli forces have killed 53,272 Palestinians and injured 120,673 since launching the attack on October 7, 2023, according to Gaza’s health ministry. Government media offices have updated the death toll to more than 61,700.
