Reddit returned online on Monday after a widespread outage knocked the platform temporarily offline for thousands of users.

On the morning of April 21, 2025, Reddit began experiencing rising error rates on both its website and mobile apps. The issue was first detected around 8:52am, prompting the team to begin investigating the cause.

According to the Reddit status page, the engineers identified the route of the issue at 9:01am PDT and immediately began fixing it. Just nine minutes later, at 9:10am, the solution was deployed and Reddit moved into the monitoring phase to ensure overall platform stability.

About ten minutes later, by 9:21am, the team confirmed that the correction had been successful. The case was officially marked as a solution with a fully restored service for users.

More than 112,000 users struggled to access Reddit at high outages, according to Downdetector.com, which monitors service disruptions. The report flooded earlier that day and began to tapered by noon.

The company confirmed the issue on its official status page and after examining the error spikes affecting both the website and the mobile app, it confirmed that the issue was resolved.

There is no details yet about what caused the confusion, but Reddit says it’s all sorted.
