These are important developments on the 1,119th day of Russia’s Ukrainian War.

Here is a summary of the important events for Wednesday, March 19th.

Fineting

Ukraine announced that the number of Russian soldiers is around 897,010 since the war began more than three years ago. This includes 1,560 military personnel killed or injured in the last 24 hours. Russia attacked Ukraine with 137 drone attacks, leaving around 3,000 people without electricity due to damage to its critical infrastructure, the governor of Ivan Fedorovzapolizia region said. Serhiy Lysak, governor of nearby Dnipropetrovsk, said the barrage caused a fire at another infrastructure facility. The Ukrainian Air Force fired 63 of the 137 Russian drones, but the Russian Ministry of Defense said 46 Ukrainian drones were able to run all night. The Russian Ministry of Defense said about 200 Ukrainian fighters, equipped with five tanks, armored combat vehicles and three demolition vehicles, had failed to attack on the ground in the Belgorod region. The Ukrainian forces also accused Russia of attempting to attack across the border, saying its forces “have successfully stopped all attempts by the occupying people to secure foothold.” The AFP news agency reports an explosion and air raid siren in the Ukrainian capital Kiev after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a 30-day suspension of attacks targeting Ukrainian energy infrastructure. Ukrainian President Voldimi Zelensky said Russia has launched more than 40 drones that have collided with private infrastructure, including hospitals in the Smie region.

Politics and diplomacy

The call between President Donald Trump and Putin was a “historic” and “magnificent” moment, Moscow’s envoy of international cooperation, Kiril Dmitriev, spoke about the X. He wrote. During talks, Putin reportedly agreed to a “limited” 30-day hiatus in the battle, and that Ukraine and Russia would stop attacking each other’s energy sector, followed by an order in which Putin responded to Moscow’s troops. According to the Kremlin, Putin also told Trump that the US and its allies must end all military aid, including foreign intelligence to Ukraine, to end the enemy. The Kremlin also requested that ceasefires should not be allowed to raise Ukraine for them to work. However, Trump told Fox News that aid to Ukraine was not discussed in a call with Putin. It was also revealed that Russia and Ukraine will trade 175 prisoners each on Wednesday. Despite Moscow’s demand to stop military and intelligence support for Kiev, German and French leaders said they would continue military support for Ukraine. Following a call between both presidents, the White House said negotiations on Ukraine’s “full ceasefire” and “permanent peace” would begin “quickly” in the Middle East. Zelenskyy said he supports Ukraine’s proposal to halt attacks on energy infrastructure, but added that he hopes to speak to Trump about details about Trump’s calls with Putin before Ukraine gives the final answer. Zelensky also accused the Kremlin of not trying to end the Ukrainian invasion, and Russia’s “wide game will be weakened” Ukraine said. “They are not even prepared for the first step. This is a ceasefire,” Zelensky said. US Democrats have called on Trump to restore funding for a government-sponsored initiative before being led by Yale University’s Humanitarian Laboratory (Yal HRL), which tracked the massive deportation of Ukrainian children. They also argue that data from the repository may have been permanently deleted, resulting in “devastating consequences.” Reuters news agency reported that Ukraine has purchased 100 million cubic meters of US liquefied natural gas (LNG) through an agreement between Ukrainian state energy company Naftgaz and Poland’s Oren. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said the British and French plans to send peacekeeping forces to Ukraine probably wouldn’t be effective. Instead, Meloni believes that a better solution is to expand NATO’s mutual defense umbrella. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has announced a new joint task force with Ukraine. It announced that it would streamline military supply procurement and consolidate support.
