At least three people have been killed, including a five-year-old child, and several others have been injured after Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko described it as a “massive enemy drone attack” on the Ukrainian capital. The attack caused a fire in a high-rise apartment building. Emergency services have been sent to several districts in the city where fires were reported, he said.

Authorities in the Krasnodar region of southern Russia have brought in four fire trains loaded with water to help fight the still intense flames at the Kabkazkaya oil depot after the Ukrainian drone attack, regional authorities said.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he met his best military commander in the northeastern part of Ukraine as a meeting with US officials is scheduled to begin in Saudi Arabia. Andrew Peak of the US National Security Council and Michael Anton of the US State Department will be heading to Saudi Arabia for consultations with Ukrainian and Russian officials over the next two days. Moscow hopes to achieve “some progress” in the talks, Sen. Grigory Karasin, the head of the Russian delegation, told the state media before US mediators met Ukraine and Russian representatives to stop the three-year conflict. Russian and US experts will be discussing ways to ensure the security of transportation in the Black Sea in negotiations, the Kremlin said.
Russia reserves the right to a “symmetrical response” to Ukraine’s attacks on Russia’s energy facilities, and the Russian Foreign Ministry warned, adding that “provocations” are being used to destroy negotiations.
South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae Yul said military cooperation between North Korea and Russia must be suspended, and Pyongyang should not be rewarded for fraud in the process of bringing the end of the war in Ukraine.
