This is where the war stands on Sunday, March 30th.
Fineting
The Russian bombing of Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second largest city, injured two people and injured the kindergarten and private homes, Ukrainian officials said.
Ukrainian President Voldimi Zelensky said Russian troops have fired more than 1,000 drones in the country over the past week.
Ole Snyevbov, governor of the Khalkiv region, said Sunday’s missile attack on the city of Kupiansk injured three people and destroyed more than 10 homes and local cemeteries.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said that air defense units destroyed 66 Ukrainian drones overnight, almost all of which fell in the Bryansk and Kalga regions.
The Russian Ministry of Defense also said its forces “liberated” the village of Zaporidia in the eastern Donetsk region, a few miles from the border of Ukraine’s central Dnipropetrovsk region.
Politics
US President Donald Trump told NBC News that he was “offended” with Russian President Vladimir Putin over comments that raised questions about the credibility of Zelensky’s leadership.
Trump said he would impose a secondary tariff of 25% to 50% on Russian oil buyers if he determines Moscow is trying to avoid efforts to end the war in Ukraine.
The US president said he believes Zelensky is trying to “retreat” a transaction that granted access to key minerals in Ukraine. “If he’s trying to renegotiate a deal, he’s having a big problem,” Trump told Air Force 1 reporters.
Moscow and Washington have begun discussions on joint rare earth metals and other projects in Russia.
