Russian forces fired a frontline settlement in Ukraine’s southeastern Zaporidia region, killing a 66-year-old woman and injuring five other people. The Kremlin said Russia and the United States are working on ideas for building peaceful settlements and bilateral relations in Ukraine, despite President Donald Trump saying he is “P**** off” with Putin. Ukrainian President Voldimia Zelensky called for Russia to be punished for more than 183,000 war crimes documented by Kiev since the full-scale invasion of Moscow three years ago. Top diplomats from Spain, Germany, France, Italy, the UK, Poland and the European Union have pledged to double aid to Ukraine and are considering accepting a ceasefire by forcing new sanctions against Russia. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Moscow said securing peace in Ukraine “has no pain or benefits,” and said the ceasefire agreement must be binding, fair and accepted by all parties. The King also welcomed Russia and the United States taking the first step to normalizing relations. He said it was “suitable to stabilize the balance of power among the great powers and stimulate optimism in a disappointing international situation.” Moldova expelled Russian diplomats after accusing convicted pro-Kremlin lawmakers of helping convicted pro-Kremlin lawmakers escape after being jailed for illegal political funds. Moscow denied attempts to interfere in Moldova’s politics. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will travel to Brussels on Wednesday to attend the NATO Foreign Ministers’ Meeting to discuss security priorities, including defence investments and peace negotiations in Ukraine.
Military assistance
Sweden said it would donate 16 billion croners ($1.6 billion) in new military aid to Ukraine, the largest package from a Scandinavian country since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. A spokesman for British Kiel Starmer said that civil servants from Britain, France and Ukrainians have met for several days to make an effort to say they are “striving to the actual moments.”
