These are important events on the 1,141st day of the Russian Ukrainian War.
This is where things stand on Thursday, April 10th.
Fineting
Kiev’s air force said Russia fired 55 drones overnight at Ukrainian targets, and of which the air defense unit fired 32. The Air Force said. The Russian drone attack targeted three Ukraine cities, Kramatalk, Dnipro and Kharkiv, causing injury to at least 22 people, of which at least seven were in hospitals. The strike also caused fires and damaged homes and cars. Moscow said it is investigating the killing of eight civilians by Ukrainian soldiers in the Russian Kursk region, which were held by Ukrainian troops at the time of the reported death. Russia’s Ministry of Defense said it had destroyed 158 Ukrainian drones overnight, including 29 in the southern Rostov region and 69 in the Krasnodar region. No injuries were reported immediately. However, almost 50 buildings have been evacuated due to the threat posed by drones. The Ukrainian Security Services (SBU) said members of Kiev’s army were sentenced to 15 years in prison for providing military intelligence to Russia.
Ceasefire
Kremlin Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has accused Ukraine of continuing to attack Russia’s energy infrastructure daily despite mutual agreement between a 30-day moratorium on energy strikes. Moscow’s Defense Ministry said Ukraine had four energy attacks against Ukraine on the past day. The Kremlin also accused Ukrainian drones of attempting to attack a compressor station that serves the Turktre pipeline, which sends gas from Russia to Torkie through the Black Sea.
Politics and diplomacy
Ukrainian President Voldymeierzelensky said talks with the US over a mineral contract for security will take place next week. Ukraine has confirmed its position and developed a vision for future mineral trade with the United States, Kiev Foreign Minister Andri Sibikha said. The minister said Ukraine will soon travel to Washington to finalise the composition of a delegation to discuss the agreement further. Documents revealed by the media show that the Ukrainian government will allocate $2.7 million to attract consulting services and advise on the draft mineral trade plan. Admiral Samuel Paparo, the US military chief of the Asia-Pacific region, confirmed that two men captured in Ukraine while fighting for Russia are of Chinese origin. He also said that offensively Russia’s success in Europe would empower China to its own offensive ambitions. President Zelensky said Ukrainian intelligence agency has information about 155 Chinese citizens fighting for the Russian army against Ukraine, with the real numbers likely to be much higher. He accused Russia of dragging Beijing into war. China’s Foreign Ministry said the claims of Chinese citizens, who are fighting Russia in large numbers, are “unfounded” and it has confirmed reports that Chinese citizens are being captured in the battle in Ukraine. Beijing provincial spokesman Lin Jiang asked his citizens to leave the area of armed conflict. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov declined to comment on allegations that Chinese soldiers were fighting Moscow’s troops against Ukraine. Kaja Karas, head of foreign policy for the European Union, said Moscow’s attacks on Kiev have increased since talks on ceasefires were raised by the US to end the war. Zelensky told reporters that the Ukrainian attack in Russia’s Belgorod region would be to prevent Moscow from increasing pressure on Ukrainian border areas.
