Following the massive explosion at ammunition storage site, a state of emergency has been declared in Russia’s Vladimir region, east of Moscow, citing emergency services, citing emergency services. Russian troops have reclaimed the St. Nicholas Belogorsky Monastery in the village of Gornar in the Kursk region of Russia, where Ukrainian forces were based, Russian TASS news agency quoted security sources as saying. Russia’s military telegram channel said Ukraine deployed troops, artillery and drone launchers at the monastery. Ukrainian President Voldimi Zelensky allegedly claims that Chinese citizens are working at Russian drone production sites, suggesting that Moscow may have unmanned technology “stolen” from China. Ukrainian leaders have already claimed that China is supplying Russia with weapons and gunpowder, calling for Beijing to stop the Chinese people from fighting Ukrainian Russian troops. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said it summoned China’s ambassador and told him “serious concerns” over China’s involvement with the Russian side in the war.
Ceasefire
President Zelensky repeatedly made preparations, even in a partial ceasefire with Russia. “Ukraine is ready for an unconditional ceasefire. If this ceasefire is partial, we are ready for mutual action,” he told Kyiv’s press conference. Zelensky also said that Ukraine would not recognize temporary occupied territory as Russians. “There’s nothing to debate. This is outside our constitution.” Russian President Vladimir Putin reportedly offered to halt Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on the current frontline, the Financial Times (FT) said. According to the FT, President Putin made the proposal at a meeting with US envoy Steve Witkov in St. Petersburg earlier this month. Putin showed that he was willing to retract Moscow’s claims against Donetsk, Luhansk, Herson and parts of Zapolizia, pointing out that in return the US would recognize the Crimea as a Russian and prevent Ukraine from joining NATO. The US envoy will travel again to Moscow this week, in reports that President Trump has proposed to accept that the territory annexed to Moscow in Crimea in Ukraine is recognized as Russia. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the aim is to end the war in Ukraine if he doesn’t attend consultations in London later today, State Department spokesman Tammy Bruce said he previously planned to travel to London. Europe is increasingly concerned about the overture of the US President Donald Trump administration against Moscow after previous failures in Trump’s efforts to secure a ceasefire in the war. British Foreign Secretary David Lamy is set to lead peace talks in London. London will be attended by officials from Ukraine, the US, the UK and Europe. News site Axios reports that the US expects Wednesday’s response to a peace framework that includes an informal recognition of Russian rule in almost every region that has been occupied since the start of the war in Ukraine in 2022. Under the proposal submitted last week, the US will lift sanctions imposed on Russia since 2014 and return some of the Russian-occupied Kharkiv to Ukraine, according to Axios. According to the Kremlin, President Putin, who is subject to an international criminal court arrest warrant for Ukrainian invasion, said he would not attend the funeral.
