At least four people were killed and 16 people were injured, including three children after Russian troops struck Kiev and surrounding areas in a “large night attack.” The strike also damaged the residence and other buildings, officials said. The Russian Ministry of Defense has announced that slowly advancing troops on the Eastern Front have acquired two settlements, the Donetsk region and the Smie region of northern Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Voldimia Zelensky said the Russian attacks showed Moscow “extending the war” and repeated calls for strengthened sanctions. The Russian Ministry of Defense has announced that it will release another 307 Ukrainian prisoners in exchange for the many Russian soldiers cared for in Belarus before returning to Russia. Russia has announced that once the “1,000-1,000-1,000-1,000” exchange between the two is complete, they will send the terms of the settlement to Ukraine. At least two prisoner exchanges took place between the two countries on Friday and Saturday. Ukraine has announced that it has begun an investigation into alleged enforcement of 268 Ukrainian prisoners by Russian forces since the invasion in February 2022.
