Selena Gomez ventured to the dark side in Oscar de la Renta, Suki Waterhouse carried a garden’s worth of embroidery into the night in Carolina Herrera, and Gigi Hadid handed her hairstylist a romantic brief, who responded with heart-shaped “love layers.”
Gomez’s stylist, Erin Walsh, revealed the “Only Murders in the Building” star’s best look on Friday in a strapless black Oscar de la Renta dress. Floral lace appliqués spread across a translucent flesh-toned base, while a fitted bustier and thigh-high slit give the silhouette an edge. Walsh completed her look with black Jimmy Choo stilettos and Fernando Jorge diamonds. That included long ivy-like earrings that remained visible under Gomez’s high buns.
Renato Campora wore his hair in a sleek updo with no parting, while Sue Park added a soft, smoky cat eye, pink cheeks, and berry-toned lips. Tom Batchik completed his beautiful look with a sheer, neutral manicure. This designer choice also created a neat reciprocity during the wedding week. Swift attended Gomez and Benny Blanco’s wedding in September 2025 wearing a sequined Oscar de la Renta dress with floral appliqués.
Waterhouse took the evening’s florals in a more playful direction. In a car selfie posted to her Instagram Stories, she showed off a black Carolina Herrera Midi from the designer’s Pre-Fall 2026 collection.

Look 35’s style from the show was covered in 3D embroidery of pink and purple flowers, topped with an off-white feathered jacket rather than a traditional wrap. Her loose waves and smudged eye makeup were sharpened with pink at the inner corners of her eyes, bringing the effect closer to her stage look.

Ms. Hadid’s contribution came from Dimitris Giannetos, who styled her long blonde hair into what he called “love layers.” His C-cut update started just below the chin, with an extra lift at the roots and an inwardly curved length that narrowed towards the ends, creating the illusion of a heart. Giannetos shaped it with a large round brush, pinned the hair up while it cooled, brushed it out with her fingers and added hairspray. Hadid was then photographed heading to Madison Square Garden with Bradley Cooper, making this unusually thematic name seem more than a coincidence.
These three looks were just the opening act. A city permit obtained by The Associated Press says Madison Square Garden’s “main event” will take place Friday at 5 p.m., with space for up to 1,000 guests, and an option to run until 4 a.m. Saturday. Road closures, restricted access around Penn Station and tented vehicle entrances have kept operations as delicate as an arena wedding. One detail that’s even more closely guarded than the guests’ arrival is what Swift will wear down the aisle. Designers are already sketching out answers for WWD, imagining everything from grand couture ball gowns to unexpected interpretations of the singer’s bridal days.
