Snapchat introduces AI-powered conversational ads to its app

Snapchat announced Tuesday that it is rolling out “AI Sponsored Snaps” that will allow users to interact directly with brands’ AI agents. Sponsored Snaps are the main feature of the app.[チャット]These are ads placed directly on the tab. Previously, users couldn’t interact with these ads, but with the launch of AI Sponsored Ads, they’ll be able to ask questions and get recommendations.

Of course, not everyone will participate in AI-sponsored ads as AI is introduced into yet another part of the Snapchat experience. Additionally, not everyone wants more advanced advertising.

But Snapchat said in a blog post that “the community is not only open to AI in conversations, it’s already embraced it,” with more than 500 million users sending messages to its AI chatbot since its launch in 2023.

“Conversations are becoming the most valuable asset in advertising,” Ajit Mohan, Snap’s chief business officer, said in a blog post. “AI is accelerating that change, turning chat into a place where people discover products, ask questions, and make decisions in real time. The real opportunity is not just to advertise in these environments, but to design formats that feel native to the way people already speak.”

For brands, the new AI Sponsored Snaps give them access to Snapchat’s nearly 1 billion monthly active users. You can bring your own AI agents to your platform to drive engagement and purchases.

Snapchat says the new format builds on the momentum of sponsored snaps, which have already increased conversions by 22% while reducing cost per action by nearly 20%. New formats allow you to engage users with personalized, AI-powered interactions where they’re already having conversations.

The company says 85% of users regularly engage in chat feeds, and users sent more than 950 billion chats in the first quarter of 2026 alone. Additionally, 57% of teen Snapchat users message others every day, and 4 in 10 message them several times a day.
