At least six of the eight justices in the court must assign him in favor of Yun’s bluff each.

South Korea’s constitutional court announced on Friday it would issue a ruling on whether to permanently remove President Yoon Sook Yeol of the Merge Each from its office.

The court said in a statement Tuesday that it would hand over the ruling on Yun, which was each fired by lawmakers after temporarily declaring martial law at 11am (02:00 GMT) late last year.

At least six of the eight justices in the court must assign him in favor of Yun’s bluff each.

If the court confirms Yoon’s blast each, the presidential election will take place within 60 days.

Otherwise, Yoon, who has been suspended from presidential duties since mid-December, will soon be resurrected.

Former top prosecutor Yoon said he issued his short-lived martial law to raise vigilance over his alleged obstruction and sympathetic stance by the opposition Democrats against North Korea.

Yoon lifted martial law within six hours of the National Assembly’s unanimous vote to overturn the order.

The declaration was short-lived and did not bring about violence, but it cast the image of Korea on Paul as a vibrant modern democracy, evoking the painful memories of the country’s dictatorial past.

Yun, who was previously elected in 2022 without a political position, faces separate criminal charges for rebellion over the law.

Several of South Korea’s democratic leaders were jailed for crimes after their tenure ended, but Yoon was the first president to be charged while still in office.

In a Gallup Korea poll released Friday, 60% of respondents said they supported the removal of Yoon.

Opinion polls show that Democratic leader Lee Jemune sees him as an overwhelming favourite in the Snap election.

On Wednesday, the appeals court overturned Lee’s 2024 conviction for violations of election laws that would have barred him from running in the next presidential election.

Last week, the Constitutional Court separately overturned Prime Minister Han Dak Soe’s blast each, reviving him as representative president while considering the lawsuit against Yoon.
