The Army says air force bases, cargo warehouses and several civilian facilities targeted Port Sudan in the first RSF attack in the eastern city.
Sudanese forces say the Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have attacked military air bases and other facilities near Port Sudan Airport.
The Army said Sunday that air bases were targeted in the first attack on the eastern city by the RSF using drones, cargo warehouses and several civilian facilities.
There have been reports of some damage after the drone hits the ammunition depot.
“Both civil and military airports are located in the same location. What we know from the residents of the port city is that five drones were fired by the RSF and targeted the air force base,” reported Hiba Morgan of Al Jazeera from the capital Khartoum.
“There are some civilian flights at the airport, but there are military flights that land at the same airport. So it’s not clear whether the drones are targeting military or civilian facilities or both,” she said.
“There are no reports of civilian casualties yet. It is not clear whether the RSF is trying to target fighter jets on display at the Air Force show on Saturday afternoon.”
